About this role
We’re looking for a high-agency Strategic Finance Lead to own financial and strategic analysis for Faire’s emerging fulfillment and logistics investments. You’ll drive mission-critical work end to end – from unit economics and scenario modeling to executive-ready narratives and partnership with Product, GTM, Business Development, and Operations. This role is central to how we scale fulfillment from zero to one: making disciplined tradeoffs on cost-to-serve, network economics, and partnerships so we improve service for brands and retailers while de-risking long-term financial outcomes.
Job description
Capital and operational efficiency both matter at Faire, but fulfillment is increasingly where scale, customer experience, and P&L intersect. The Finance & Strategy team helps ensure we invest with clarity – linking strategy to numbers and turning complexity into decisions that leadership can act on. As Strategic Finance Lead, Fulfillment, you will conduct the financial and strategic analysis that informs how Faire optimally invests in scaling and improving fulfillment and logistics. That includes deep scenario modeling and a firm grasp of the building blocks of our unit economics, so we can iterate confidently as the fulfillment operation grows.
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, highly collaborative, data-driven environment and wants to work closely across functions - with outsized impact on how the marketplace delivers for customers.
What you’ll do
- Own fulfillment unit economics and scenario modeling. Build and maintain the financial models that underpin Faire’s fulfillment strategy—cost-to-serve, network economics, carrier and 3PL pricing—and translate outputs into clear tradeoffs that inform investment decisions and operational priorities.
- Support 3PL and carrier contract strategy. Lead financial analysis for negotiations, including scenario modeling across rate structures, volume commitments, and service tiers so Faire enters and renews contracts from a position of analytical strength.
- Connect fulfillment to brand, retailer, and GMV outcomes. Develop a sharp view of how fulfillment cost, speed, and reliability intersect with brand and retailer behavior; use those insights to shape product and GTM strategy.
- Influence the fulfillment roadmap at leadership level. Partner with Product, GTM, and Business Development on investment decisions; deliver hypothesis-driven analysis that ties operational tradeoffs to Faire’s broader financial outputs.
- Elevate executive communication. Distill complex fulfillment economics into clear, decision-ready narratives—from board-level framing to operational deep dives—so the right detail reaches the right audience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in strategic corporate finance, private equity / venture capital, investment banking, management consulting, and/or finance/partnering roles with heavy operational or logistics-adjacent complexity
- Strong modeling muscle: able to build and stress-test financial models that reflect operational reality, not just spreadsheet theory
- Analytical rigor: synthesize information, decompose problems, and use data and logic to diagnose root causes—comfortable going deep on unit economics without losing the strategic question
- Excellent communication: credible, structured storytelling for executives and cross-functional partners; able to zoom between detail and narrative
- Cross-functional operator: track record building trust and alignment across Product, GTM, Business Development, and Operations; organized with strong deadline management across concurrent workstreams
- Team-oriented: motivated by business outcomes over personal recognition in a high-impact IC role
Nice to have
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, or logistics-intensive businesses where fulfillment economics are central to the P&L
- AI-forward working style: Actively experiments with AI tools to accelerate and sharpen analytical work — whether that's automating rote modeling tasks, pressure-testing assumptions, or generating faster first drafts of complex analyses.
- Commercial acumen supporting vendor or carrier negotiations—modeling rate structures, volume commitments, and contract scenarios
- SQL or comparable data proficiency to pull and manipulate analyses without relying on partners for every cut
Salary Range
San Francisco: the pay range for this role is $164,000 to $225,500 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday).
