This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for overseeing large-scale auto claims operations across multiple specialized teams, ensuring strong performance, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer outcomes. You will lead a geographically dispersed organization of 200+ employees spanning key claims functions such as coverage investigations, subrogation, low-touch claims, rental, Med Pay, and theft/fire. The role requires a strategic and data-driven leader capable of improving workflow efficiency, reducing claim handling friction, and strengthening segmentation accuracy. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams across claims, underwriting, innovation, and customer experience to optimize processes and enhance service quality. This position blends operational accountability with transformation leadership, focusing on talent development, change management, and continuous improvement. It offers high visibility and direct impact on claims performance, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction across the auto insurance lifecycle.
Accountabilities
This role is responsible for leading end-to-end auto claims operations, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across a large, multi-functional organization.
- Lead divisional auto claims operations with accountability for service quality, compliance, financial performance, and customer outcomes.
- Oversee execution across Low Touch Claims, Coverage Investigations, Subrogation, Rental, Med Pay, and Theft/Fire units.
- Direct handling strategies for complex claims, providing technical guidance and oversight across large operational teams.
- Own claim routing, segmentation accuracy, and transfer governance, identifying root causes of inefficiencies and misrouting.
- Analyze operational data to monitor capacity, productivity, transfer volume, and emerging performance trends, delivering insights to leadership.
- Partner with FNOL, QA, innovation, and business leaders to improve workflows, reduce handoffs, and strengthen operational consistency.
- Lead organizational change initiatives, process improvements, and operational transformation programs to increase efficiency and service quality.
- Build and develop a strong leadership pipeline through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support business growth, portfolio management, and profitability objectives.
Requirements
This position requires deep expertise in auto claims operations, strong leadership experience, and the ability to manage complex, high-volume workflows in a regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10+ years of complex claims experience, including at least 7 years in leadership roles within claims operations.
- Active adjuster licensing as required by applicable regulations.
- Strong knowledge of claims handling, coverage analysis, liability, estimating, settlement, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable business decisions.
- Demonstrated experience leading large teams through change and improving operational performance at scale.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex issues clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Advanced problem-solving, conflict management, and decision-making capabilities in high-stakes environments.
- Proficiency with claims systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Preferred: CPCU, AIC, or other insurance-related professional designations, and experience optimizing claims assignment logic and workflow design.
