IT FinOps Manager

This role is central to driving financial clarity, governance, and optimization across IT services, cloud consumption, and technology investments within a complex enterprise environment. You will act as the key owner of FinOps practices, ensuring that IT spending is transparent, well-controlled, and aligned with business priorities. The position involves close collaboration with Finance, Procurement, Architecture, and IT leadership to turn cost data into actionable insights. You will oversee cloud and infrastructure cost optimization, vendor financial governance, and IT asset lifecycle management. This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences efficiency, accountability, and financial performance across digital operations. The environment is cross-functional, data-driven, and focused on continuous improvement. You will play a key role in building a strong cost-conscious culture across IT and business teams.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and evolving FinOps governance while ensuring financial discipline across IT services:

  • Own and continuously improve the IT FinOps governance framework across cloud, infrastructure, applications, managed services, and IT operations.
  • Ensure full transparency of IT costs, including cloud consumption, licensing, AI usage, vendor charges, and operational run costs.
  • Monitor, control, and optimize IT spend against budgets, forecasts, contracts, and financial plans.
  • Identify and drive cost optimization initiatives across cloud platforms, software licensing, and managed services.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting mechanisms for cost tracking, variance analysis, and savings realization.
  • Validate invoices, service usage reports, and vendor charges while challenging inefficiencies and non-compliant costs.
  • Collaborate with Architecture and IT stakeholders to assess financial impact of technical and architectural decisions.
  • Track IT asset lifecycle and support budget planning for replacements and renewals.
  • Implement chargeback/showback models to improve cost accountability across business units.
  • Promote FinOps best practices, automation, and data-driven cost management across the organization.
  • Requirements

    We are looking for a strong IT financial governance professional with deep FinOps and cloud cost management experience:

    • 7+ years of experience in IT Financial Management, FinOps, IT Controlling, or similar roles.
    • Strong experience managing IT costs in complex, multi-vendor or outsourced environments.
    • Solid understanding of cloud cost structures, licensing models, managed services, and operational IT spend.
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud cost optimization practices.
    • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and financial governance.
    • Experience working with Finance, Procurement, ITSM, and Architecture teams in cross-functional setups.
    • Familiarity with ITIL environments and IT service cost implications.
    • Experience using reporting and cost tools such as Power BI or cloud cost management platforms.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
    • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (written and spoken).
    • Nice to have:

      • Exposure to AI/ML cost tracking (e.g., token or compute consumption).
      • Experience in chargeback/showback implementation models.
      • Knowledge of automation or advanced analytics in FinOps environments.
      • Experience in global or enterprise-scale IT organizations.
