Balances business priorities with technology strategy by translating architecture principles into secure, scalable designs and collaborating across teams to deliver outcomes. Develops end-to-end solutions aligned with health benefits and member experience, partnering with Information Technology (IT) teams for technology selection and configuration to meet regulatory, privacy, and interoperability needs across domains (enrollment, provider, and payroll). Designs and maintains high-performance web applications using Spring-based services and modern technologies (Azure and Kubernetes). Drives delivery through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), engaging in solution spikes, reference implementations, and modernization patterns. Works within Agile frameworks to enable iterative development, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), test automation, and observability, ensuring platforms remain resilient, compliant, and cost-efficient. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitates seamless access to healthcare benefits and accurate premium deductions within payroll systems.
- Delivers timely, accurate outbound data files and reports to carriers and vendors supporting healthcare benefits administration and financial workflows.
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing financial services applications.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Full Stack Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing financial services applications.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing Java RESTful services and middle-tier, multi-threaded applications according to Agile methodologies, using Java, Spring, and Hibernate framework; building, deploying, and supporting applications using CI tools -- Jenkins and Maven; performing configuration management using Git Stash; and applying Test Driven Development (TDD) practices using unit testing frameworks (JUnit), Veracode, uDeploy, and SonarQube.
- DE creating test automation for distributed applications using middleware technologies -- REST, Web Services, Java, and Spring.
- DE writing clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code to improve application efficiency; deploying chat and e-mail applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enable auto-scaling and load balancing; scheduling Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) batch processes on a daily or weekly basis to transfer data between databases; and hosting and running Genesys tools on Apache Tomcat to support web services.
- DE developing GitOps mechanism to configure financial services applications for build and deployment into Kubernetes containers using configurable Ain’t Markup Language (YAML), Terraform, Helm Charts, and Argo; monitoring application logs to detect anomalies, enable fast incident response, and reduce downtime; and building dashboards and alerts for monitoring and notifications, using Fluent Bit, Datadog, Kibana, and Splunk.
