Manufacturing Engineer – Assembly

Location: Denison, TX

Relocation: Domestic relocation assistance is available

Travel: Up to 10%

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process advancements, automation integration, factory support, and new product introductions. This role is focused on developing robust, repeatable manufacturing processes while advancing automation solutions including emerging technologies, cobots, lifting and rigging, and digital factory initiatives to improve safety, quality, throughput and cost.

You will support the implementation of new product designs and technologies within both the product and the factory, ensuring safe integration and consistent process performance. In parallel, you will prepare the factory for future investment needs by developing standardized work, strengthening process robustness, and driving defect prevention through data-driven problem solving.

Success in this role requires a hands-on, operations-focused approach, delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost while building scalable manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to equipment, processes, and production systems.
  • Deliver technical advancements in manufacturing processes aligned with Digital Factory initiatives and New Product Introduction (NPI) execution.
  • Monitors equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problems.
  • Provides engineering support on planning, product development, operational success, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities.
  • Lead and support the integration of advanced automation technologies, including robotics, cobots, IoT-enabled equipment, and smart factory systems.
  • Drive adoption of smart manufacturing technologies, ensuring alignment with safety, environmental, and quality standards. 

Top Candidates will Have:

  • Experience in manufacturing process development and problem-solving methodologies (six Sigma, Root cause analysis, FMEA, BIQ, Quality Management)
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, weld standards, and structural assembly practices
  • Knowledge of robotics, including hands-on experience with robotic programming and integration in welding or manufacturing automation systems

What Skills You Will Have:

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor an entire manufacturing process.
  • Collaborative Automation: Knowledge of techniques and processes of collaborative automation; ability to develop and deploy cobots to automate manufacturing processes.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Knowledge of techniques and processes of robotic process automation (RPA); ability to develop and deploy RPA solutions in various industries.

 

 

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
