Our computational challenges are so big and unique we can't just buy our hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Our Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google's continued growth.

With your technical expertise, you lead and manage projects, develop product and process improvements, provide consultation to others and help facilitate training and development.

Google Pixel Watch brings amazing wearable products to the market that are loved by millions. The structural design team is part of the Google Predictive Engineering and Methods team. Our mission is to design and develop top-notch quality Google hardware products through predictable and efficient simulation and validation.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with structural simulation experience in the consumer electronics industry.
  • 5 years of experience using design tools such as NX or similar CAD software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with designing, building and testing prototypes to validate design concept and analysis result.
  • Experience setting up both a material lab and development of validation tools.
  • Experience with advanced material characterization and modeling for developing numerical models.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal forming and die casting, Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
