Job Purpose

The Electrical Design Robotics role provides high quality, reasonably priced, on-time robotic hardware,software, and safety designs to ensure stable new model and new technology introduction in all HDMA North American manufacturing facilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support projects by preparing installation plans, schedule and coordination of deliverables.
  • Create documentation deliverables for robotic system installation.
  • Act as designated project leader for small scale developments. Identify project criteria and requirements and manage the overall execution of activities. 
  • Support or perform simulation studies for robotic applications.
  • Support Electrical and Mechanical Manufacturing with system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Perform robot system evaluation checks and buyoffs at Honda and Robot vendors.
  • Perform robot programming in both online and offline scenarios.
  • Perform robot configuration and setup in both online and offline scenarios.
  • Coordinate the activity and confirm the work of robot programming contractors.
  • Attend equipment specification and design reviews and provide technical advice.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications
 Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Manufacturing discipline,

Associate’s degree in related field with 3 additional years of relevant experience, or 6 additional years relevant experience with no degree
Minimum Experience 0-2 years of relevant experience

Microsoft Office Product proficiency

Robot CAD

Simulation Proficiency

Working Conditions

Based on project needs, work in the engineering office at a desk station or the plant floor.
Ability to support robot installations all over North America, including weekends and shutdown work in the plant. 40-50 hrs per week, up to 20-40% weekends per year.
Work in all FRAME departments, WE (Weld), AF (Assembly), PA (Paint), ST (Stamping), POPA (Plastics).
Some troubleshooting or hands on work with the robot systems and automation can be strenuous, with long hours standing or moving around the equipment
