Technical Operations Manufacturing Test Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Test Engineer to join the Specs Lab team and work on our next-generation Augmented Reality Specs.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Engineering and Contract Manufacturers (CM) to develop production test procedures, methods, tools, code, and fixtures for consumer electronic products

  • Drive the evaluation and procurement of production test equipment

  • Partner with Engineering to establish robust test limits to minimize failure modes and maintain high production yields

  • Work with PD, Software Development (SW), and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure high process capability (Cpk) of test processes and reduce overall testing cost

  • Collaborate with PD and NPI teams to ensure Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Cost (DFC) are integrated into product design

  • Ensure the high repeatability and reproducibility of all factory test measurements

  • Deliver low-cost test solutions by minimizing test stations, reducing test time, and implementing cost-effective strategies

  • Provide essential on-site support during prototype and mass production builds

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Product Development (PD), Software Development (SW), New Product Introduction (NPI), and Contract Manufacturers (CM)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing test processes for PCBAs and full consumer electronic products.

  • Test knowledge experience with audio (speakers, microphones), cameras, displays, RF (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc)

  • Familiar with Six Sigma or statistical methodologies (GR&R, Cpk, etc)

  • Experience with test code and scripting

  • Proficient in written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in consumer electronics manufacturing, focused on production testing, test code development, test equipment selection, and test fixture design

  • Direct experience testing consumer electronics components such as imagers, audio systems, RF, and user interface (U/I) systems

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma principles and experience in driving factory quality metrics

  • Ability to work on-site at Taipei manufacturing site 35%+ (during active bills must be on-site, commutable distance from Taiwan CM)

  • Ability to travel to US, China, Thailand 10%+ of the time 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in engineering, FW or related field

  • 5+ years in electronics manufacturing or related field

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages (Python, Looker, etc)

  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt certification
