 We’re Looking For: 

Degree, Licensure or Certifications 

  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent religious education based on faith group requirements.
  • 1 unit of CPE accredited by ACPE.
  • Eligible for faith group endorsement 

  
As a Chaplain you will:

  • Provide comprehensive holistic spiritual care to patients, families, and healthcare staff, including counseling, crisis response, and sacramental support.
  • Assist during emergencies, guides families through illness and end‑of‑life processes and promote patient safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in care planning, education, and ethical discussions, and supports staff through consultations and training.
  • Contributes to departmental operations, mentoring, and community outreach while upholding organizational values and maintaining active involvement in their faith community.

Advocate South Suburban Hospital, part of the Advocate Southland Health Network, is an acute-care facility providing a wide range of comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic and ambulatory medical services. In addition to offering an array of hospital services, this not-for-profit facility provides free screenings and a variety of other outreach services throughout the community.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Availability and transportation to serve on-call rotation as needed.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Must be able to participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotation per the department schedule, including moving between care sites as needed.
