At AstraZeneca, we are seeking a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team. This field-based role is responsible for providing high-quality medical and scientific expertise through in-depth scientific discussions, presentation of clinical evidence, and engagement with healthcare professionals in a non-promotional scientific environment.
As a Medical Scientific Liaison, you will act as a trusted scientific partner within the healthcare ecosystem, supporting the understanding of emerging treatment trends and helping shape medical strategies through scientific exchange and valuable insights from the field. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally while contributing to patient-centered innovation and scientific excellence.
Maintain deep and updated knowledge of the therapeutic area, AstraZeneca products, competitor landscape, and emerging scientific and clinical trends.
Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), advocacy groups, and influence networks at national, regional, and local levels.
Conduct regular scientific interactions with external stakeholders to exchange clinical evidence, provide scientific support, and facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives including publications and scientific materials.
Respond to unsolicited medical information requests related to unapproved AstraZeneca products or unapproved uses of approved products in an objective, balanced, scientific, and non-promotional manner.
Manage and fulfill medical information request processes according to local regulations and internal standards.
Appropriately communicate clinical and scientific data to HCPs, ensuring balanced, evidence-based discussions covering all aspects of available information.
Facilitate continuous medical education activities and scientific engagement initiatives for healthcare professionals.
Support the implementation of Risk Minimization Plans and other Medical Affairs strategic initiatives.
Participate actively in scientific congresses, meetings, and internal shared-learning sessions to strengthen medical capabilities and alignment.
Serve as a scientific information resource for healthcare professionals and external stakeholders.
Generate and share medical insights from the field, contributing to the understanding of local medical landscapes, treatment practices, unmet needs, and scientific knowledge gaps.
Support pre-launch activities for new therapeutic areas, products, and line extensions.
Collaborate cross-functionally by sharing customer insights and healthcare professional needs with Medical, Commercial, Market Access, and other internal teams.
Healthcare professional degree required (Medical Doctor or Pharmacist).
Minimum 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Strong understanding of medical affairs principles and scientific exchange practices.
Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical information effectively.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a field-based environment.
Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written).
Availability to travel according to business needs.
Master’s degree or advanced qualification in science or clinical disciplines.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) within the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in Oncology.
Previous academic, medical research, or scientific publication experience.
