Director Medical Affairs – Mexico
Location: Mexico
Reporting to: General Manager
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director Medical Affairs to lead our Medical function in Mexico. As a member of the Country Leadership Team, you will define and execute the local Medical strategy aligned with global priorities, ensuring scientific excellence, patient-centricity, and full compliance with local regulatory requirements.
This is a high-impact leadership role with accountability for Medical strategy, clinical activities, stakeholder engagement, and team development across the affiliate.
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
Define and deliver the country Medical Affairs strategy aligned to global frameworks and local priorities
Contribute to overall country strategy as a member of the Leadership Team
Oversee Medical budget, resource allocation, and performance delivery
Ensure effective life-cycle management and benefit–risk oversight across the portfolio
Medical governance & excellence
Provide expert scientific leadership to internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all local regulations, SOPs, and ethical standards
Oversee medical information, education, publications, and safety activities
Clinical and data generation
Lead local clinical strategy, including Phase IV, non-interventional and investigator-initiated studies
Drive real-world evidence (RWE) initiatives aligned with global priorities
Ensure high-quality, compliant execution of all clinical activities
Leadership & team development
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Medical Affairs team (Medical Advisors, MSLs, Medical Information)
Continue to build on a high-performance, collaborative and patient-focused culture
External engagement
Act as a trusted partner to key opinion leaders, institutions, and regulatory bodies
Represent the organisation within the local medical and scientific community
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure strong execution across the affiliate
Candidate profile
Education & qualifications
Medical degree or advanced life sciences qualification essential
Postgraduate qualification in pharmaceutical medicine desirable
Experience
Significant pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience (typically 10+ years)
Strong Medical Affairs leadership experience, including clinical study design and oversight
Proven people leadership experience (5+ years)
Experience operating within a country leadership or cross-functional environment
Exposure to product launches or market access environments (desirable)
Capabilities
Strong scientific expertise and data interpretation skills
Strategic thinking and business acumen
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, matrix environment
