PURPOSE
- The Medical Lead is a leadership role of Medical Affairs, Pfizer Korea. It is a senior role in the business that provides medical leadership and leads a team of highly qualified, medical affairs personnel looking after the field medical engagement through customer facing colleagues (Medical Affairs Scientists) and in-house support of the designated disease/therapeutic area business through more office based medical colleagues (Medical Managers).
- Leading a team of medical scientists ready to be partners in the deepest and fastest transformation in a generation of the healthcare ecosystem driven by technology and AI, by bringing deep therapeutic expertise and the credibility to engage as trusted peers to clinicians, payers, policy-makers and tech enterprises and generating value and impact to systems already augmented by AI from insight generation to evidence strategy to education.
SCOPE
The Medical Lead provides medical leadership to core brand teams for in-line assets to Global study teams for pipeline assets, and is responsible for the required medical support for new product launches and successful implementation of medical strategies in line with business objectives. They have the overall responsibility for country medical budget assigned to the disease/therapeutic area.
Involves active collaboration with cross-functional partners, internal and external stakeholders and cross-business medical affairs functions to implement and execute medical plans and strategies. Stakeholders include but are not limited to Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs and Access, Medical Information, Drug Safety, Compliance and Clinical Research. They also maintain an ongoing external relationship and partnership with health care specialists, key opinion leaders, researchers and investigators, advancing science and research and enhancing Pfizer’s reputation and recognition.

MAIN REPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Manage overall planning, resources and budget for the disease/therapeutic area Medical Affairs function to meet current objectives and future requirements·
- Responsible for overall medical strategy and medical team management·
- Responsible for colleague and career development for direct reporting teams·
- Works with disease/therapeutic area colleagues to develop and deploy coherent medical strategy as part of product, business strategies and programs
- Deep understanding of the AI- and technology -driven evolution of the local healthcare ecosystem by being proactive partner in the dialogue around AI adoption in clinical practice, HTA evolution incorporating RWE, and the regulatory landscape governing AI in healthcare.
- Collaborate with global / regional teams to develop therapeutic area strategies·
- Support and Represent Korea in G/Local (Global-Local) meetings and initiatives including data generation·
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external groups and customers to enhance reputation and contribute to scientific body of knowledge·
- Play a role in identifying and developing research strategies and opportunities for data generation·
- Supports scientific events, advisory boards and focus panels and provides training support to the other staffs including field force concerning scientific medical aspects·
- Participates actively in the pre-launch, launch and post-launch activities· Reviews/approves Promotional materials and Media releases for assigned therapeutic area·
- Risk management concerning safety issues·
- Act as a guardian of Compliance (e.g. Regulations, SOPs, Codes)·
- Product life cycle support: ensures that medical teams co-develop registration and access strategies, and supports implementation with Regulatory and Health & Value·
- Contributes to Pfizer’s external credibility and image by establishing partnerships with local professional organizations, health authorities and opinion leaders
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Education & Experience-
- A medical (preferred) or a science degree with specialization, or appropriate experience in Medical Affairs
- A minimum 5+ yrs experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other relevant medical industry and clearly documented experience indicating a high level of understanding of and interest in Medical Affairs
- Experience of people and team management is strongly preferred-
- Good working knowledge of relevant Industry Codes of Conduct
- Medical leadership experience with people/team management.
- Previous/current experience in the relevant therapeutic will be preferred- Strong managerial skills and potential and interest in a long-term career in the pharmaceutical industryUses AI and data-analytics tools to accelerate literature review, synthesise evidence, and surface insights from scientific exchange and real-world data.
- Critically appraises AI-generated output for scientific accuracy and bias before use, understanding the limits of these tools in a regulated medical context.
- AI literacy —AI judgement and stewardship — acts as a role model for responsible AI use; partners with data-science and digital functions to shape and pilot new workflows.
- Applies Pfizer's responsible-AI principles and data-governance standards in all AI-assisted work — ensuring confidentiality, transparency, human oversight, and regulatory compliance.
