Your core responsibilities will include: 

Strategy & Innovation      

  • Support the implementation and local adaptation of the Glocal Medical Strategy for aT1D in the UK and Ireland context        

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the local aT1D Medical strategy and integrated Medical Action Plan        

  • Support omnichannel strategies within aT1D medical affairs under senior guidance·         Provide strategic input and support cross-functional alignment to maximize pipeline opportunities      

  • Contribute to data-driven decision-making initiatives for aT1D        

  • Attend medical and scientific national congresses and advisory boards, providing insights to support medical strategies.  

Commercial Alignment & Value Demonstration

  • Build collaborative relationships with commercial teams, supporting the balance between scientific advancement and business objectives

  • Support value demonstration strategies leveraging enhanced evidence generation for disease-modifying therapies    

  • Participate in cross-functional alignment activities for aT1D innovative therapies

  • Provide medical input to Market Access teams in developing reimbursement dossiers, supporting clinical data interpretation and real-world evidence for aT1D therapies

R&D Integration & Evidence Generation

  • Provide local healthcare system insights to support global clinical development plans for TZIELD and pipeline aT1D treatments

  • Support evidence generation strategies through R&D collaboration

  • Assist in the adoption of digital tools and AI for data collection and analysis in aT1D patient identification and treatment

  • Stay current with medical and scientific developments in the aT1D field to identify research opportunities.

External Stakeholder Engagement

  • Execute stakeholder engagement plans incorporating omnichannel approaches for aT1D specialists        

  • Support the evolution of the aT1D narrative, promoting understanding of it as a chronic, autoimmune condition that can be anticipated and/or delayed       

  • Build and maintain relationships with Scientific Societies and National KOLs to support champion networks and consensus around early intervention in aT1D        

  • Support acceleration of policy environment for aT1D early detection and disease-modifying therapies      

  • Incorporate patient voice into aT1D medical strategies and activities.  

Medical Operations & Digital Excellence

  • Support the implementation of omnichannel engagement strategies for aT1D stakeholders        

  • Assist in creation of educational materials and digital engagement tools for aT1D·         Monitor engagement effectiveness with aT1D stakeholders       

  • Support the integration of digital solutions in aT1D medical operations        

  • Adapt global content and medical messaging using value story techniques for different customer segments.  

Ethical Leadership and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to the ABPI & IPHA Codes of Practice and all applicable healthcare regulations        

  • Cultivate a culture of compliance within the team through regular training and oversight        

  • Support managed access programs for aT1D therapies in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring ethical implementation that prioritises patient needs while maintaining strict compliance with regulations governing pre-authorisation access to innovative medicines. 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Medical Affairs Team: Medical Head/Medical Director, Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Medical Information Team, Medical Evidence Generation Team, Medical Communications 

  • Cross-Functional Partners: Commercial/Marketing Teams, Market Access & HEOR, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, Public Affairs/Government Relations, Quality & Compliance  

  • External relationships:Endocrinologists Diabetologists, Primary Care Physicians/GPs, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Hospital-based diabetes teams, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in T1D and immunology, Scientific & Medical Societies, Patient Organizations & Advocacy Groups, Academic & Research Institutions, Healthcare System Stakeholders

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic Qualifications:

    • Advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred

    • At least 3 years of industry experience in Medical Affairs

    • Good understanding of Type 1 Diabetes or Immunology therapy area (prior experience in type 1 diabetes is desired)

    • Strong scientific profile with academia/research/HCP background

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Exposure to guidelines development with national authorities

    • Experience supporting successful launches of innovative therapies

    • Understanding of the UK & Ireland Healthcare system, particularly in diabetes care pathways

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Developing strategic and analytical thinking capabilities, with ability to support innovation while remaining pragmatic

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships

    • Emerging leadership skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects with guidance

    • Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to adapt with agility

    • Good understanding of medical practice, clinical decision-making, and healthcare systems related to patient care in Type 1 Diabetes or Immunology

    • Ability to leverage an omnichannel approach in stakeholder engagement

    • Developing data analytics and insight generation capabilities

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and local language (both written and verbal)

  • Languages: Strong communication and presentation skills in English both written and verbal
