What You'll Do:
The Registered Nurse (RN) conducts comprehensive assessments of individuals and accurately documents pertinent information related to triage, behavioral health, physical health, and substance use concerns. This role demonstrates expertise in crisis intervention and the ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations in a safe, therapeutic manner. The RN also provides education to individuals and their families regarding behavioral health diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.
- Completes detailed Nursing Assessments with individuals and documents pertinent information including Triage, Medical/Behavioral Health assessments and medication administration utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Accurately record all medication brought in by individual on medication reconciliation/storage form.
- Plans individual treatment as part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical team.
- Provides education concerning psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options, psychopharmacology and overall health literacy to individuals, families, and all others involved in the individual’s care.
- Intervenes with appropriate verbal interventions to diffuse out of control or potentially dangerous behaviors. Demonstrates ability to effectively use therapeutic option theory and technique and can describe and demonstrate their roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Seclusion/Restraint standards, guidelines, techniques; initiate documentation and debriefing with individuals for any seclusion/restraint incidents as required.
- Accurately transcribes Provider orders and administers medications as prescribed. Attempt to have individual sign medication consent form. Performs chart checks and signs off as a second noted on medications prescribed. Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by Providers when required.
- Provide daily programming/groups.
- Complete all required training, attend monthly meetings, and maintain required competencies.
- Complete nurse to nurse at discharge or when accepting individual from another facility.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
- Graduated from an accredited Nursing program
- Unrestricted active license as Registered Professional Nurse through the Virginia State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege
- Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
- Working on ASAM 3.7 unit, the RN shall have competencies and experience in conducting an alcohol or other drug focused nursing assessment
- The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
- State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance
- Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check
- Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations - Central Registry Search
- Physical Requirements
- Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
- Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior
It would be great if you had:
- 3 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience
- Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
- Experience working with individuals with addiction and addiction management
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
