Sr STD Case Manager

This role offers the opportunity to manage complex short-term disability claims while delivering exceptional service to claimants and employer partners. You will apply your expertise in disability claims management, medical terminology, and regulatory compliance to make timely, accurate, and well-supported claim decisions. Working in a fully remote environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality claim administration and positive customer experiences. The position combines analytical decision-making with empathy, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on individuals during challenging times. You will also contribute to operational excellence by mentoring colleagues, supporting process improvements, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Accountabilities:

  • Manage complex short-term disability claims from initial review through ongoing case management, making timely and accurate claim determinations based on policy provisions and regulatory requirements.
  • Gather, evaluate, and analyze clinical, vocational, financial, employer, and other relevant information to support informed claim decisions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate claim documentation while developing and updating claim management plans to achieve appropriate case outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, internal policies, and operational quality standards.
  • Deliver compassionate, customer-focused service by communicating effectively with claimants, employers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous process improvement.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members while contributing to departmental projects and business initiatives.
  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or a related field is preferred.
    • 3–5 years of experience managing Short-Term Disability (STD) claims.
    • Strong knowledge of disability claims administration, medical terminology, anatomy, pathology, and applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Proven ability to make independent claim decisions while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, integrity, and commitment to quality.
