Build the future of data. Join the Snowflake team. Snowflake is looking for an experienced Lead, Payroll Operations to be an integral part of the payroll operation supporting the APAC region. This position will be based in Pune, India. You are a versatile, motivated, creative, intellectually curious, analytical collaborator and a strong communicator.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, your role is a hybrid of direct operational execution and supervisory oversight to ensure the smooth delivery of day-to-day operations. This role will be individual contributor, while you will not have direct reports, you will be responsible for the supervisory health of the broader APAC payroll landscape, driving process standardization and automation to ensure all regional operations remain smooth, scalable, and compliant.
Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Execution
Direct Processing: Ensure accurate and on-time end-to-end payroll processing for assigned payrolls within the APAC region.
Input Management & Technical Review: Accurately capture all inputs to be provided to payroll vendors in a timely manner. Perform thorough payroll analysis, including total gross to net payment reconciliations and comparison to prior periods
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory filings for assigned jurisdictions.
Team Supervision & Oversight
Operational Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day delivery of payroll operations for the assigned counties in APAC region, reviewing, approving payrolls and ensuring the team meets accuracy and timeline requirements.
Payroll Transformation: Support complex migration projects and system integrations, ensuring seamless data flow between Payroll System and Workday. Managed continuous improvements and functional enhancements for Workday HCM and Financials modules.
Vendor Governance: Monitor and measure SLAs as agreed with payroll vendors, raising matters where there are slippages and recommending corrective action to management.
Audit & Internal Control: Provide support to external and internal audits and assist with the design and implementation of internal control measures to ensure proper authorizations.
Documentation management: Oversee the creation and maintenance of robust process documentation related to operational procedures and compliance.
Strategic Coordination & Support
Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with HR, Stock Administration, Benefits, Recruiting, Legal, and Accounting to streamline processes.
Financial Close Coordination: Support monthly/quarterly accounting close activities, including account maintenance, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Process improvement: Recognizing opportunities and recommending process improvements also involves assisting with the design and implementation of internal control measures to ensure proper payment authorizations and segregation of duties.
Employee Support: Ensure the team provides excellent payroll support by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Finance, or Accounting.
Experience: 10+ years of relevant and progressive payroll experience, with public company experience required.
Regional Knowledge: Preferred hands-on experience with India payroll and knowledge of countries such as China, Japan, S. Korea, Australia, and Singapore.
Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivots, V/H Lookups) and Google Suite apps.
Systems: Familiarity with Workday HCM and Workday Financials is a plus.
Compliance Expertise: In-depth knowledge of payroll-related compliance requirements, taxation, and finance concepts.
Leadership Traits: * Ability to manage through change and lead change when appropriate.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Flexibility: Flexible with work hours to support the dynamic needs of the APAC region.
