About the Role
We’re hiring a Legal Ops Manager to support and optimize the legal function through stronger processes, systems, reporting, and cross-functional execution.
This role sits at the center of the legal department’s operations and works closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, Compliance, HR, and IT. You’ll help bring structure and scalability to the team by improving workflows, managing legal technology, overseeing vendor-related operations, and supporting budgeting and reporting activities.
This is a high-impact role for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong execution. Your work will help improve efficiency across legal processes, increase visibility into legal spend and performance, and enable the legal team to scale more effectively as the business grows.
What you'll be doing
- Design and improve legal department workflows, policies, and operational processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and streamline legal matter and contract management activities.
- Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and knowledge management resources.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and scalability across the legal function.
- Manage legal technology platforms, including CLM, e-billing, matter management, and document management systems.
- Partner with IT and external vendors to support system enhancements, integrations, and user training.
- Evaluate new legal technology solutions based on business needs and operational fit.
- Support adoption of tools and processes that strengthen legal team effectiveness.
- Oversee outside counsel engagement processes, billing guidelines, and vendor performance management.
- Support rate negotiations, budget tracking, invoice review, and legal spend analysis.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external legal service providers.
- Improve consistency and visibility across outside counsel and vendor operations.
- Manage legal department budgets, forecasts, accruals, and reporting processes.
- Track legal spend, operational metrics, and KPIs to support data-driven decisions.
- Prepare dashboards and executive summaries for leadership stakeholders.
- Provide clear reporting that improves visibility into operational performance.
- Support audits, regulatory responses, department communications, training, and change management efforts.
- Lead legal operations initiatives from planning through execution.
- Manage timelines, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communications across multiple projects.
About You
- 5–8 years of experience in legal operations, corporate legal departments, law firms, consulting, or related operational roles.
- Strong understanding of legal workflows, contract processes, and outside counsel management.
- Experience working with legal technology platforms and reporting tools.
- Proven ability to lead project management and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend, KPI, and operational data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting/dashboard tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, paralegal certification, or legal-related certification preferred.
- Experience with CLM or e-billing implementations, data privacy, compliance, corporate governance, or high-growth environments is a plus.
