Spotify seeks an outstanding, highly-motivated attorney to serve as Legal Counsel, Product. As a product counsel at Spotify, you will partner with and provide guidance to our product and business teams on global, cutting-edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
Partner with the product and business teams at Spotify throughout all stages of product development, including ideation, design, testing and launch
Advise on new and innovative products, features and formats across all markets where Spotify is available, including AI systems
Provide legal guidance on AI-specific regulation (such as the EU AI Act) and other global regulations, including laws regarding consumer protection, privacy and data protection, content, intellectual property, online safety, minor protection, and other legal issues relevant to digital products
Conduct legal reviews in connection with expansion into new markets and ensure our products comply with legal developments in existing markets, including evolving standards for AI transparency and safety
Draft and negotiate contracts, including for third-party software and technology procurement as necessary to support the development of new features and formats
Establish and maintain all product-related legal documentation, such as terms of service, platform policies and consumer and creator messaging
Maintain a proficient understanding of international legal and policy developments that may affect Spotify’s business
Improve our standard form agreements and legal processes that help us scale globally with a consistent but locally-relevant approach
Who You Are
You have a J.D., LL.M. or equivalent, with admission to at least one bar (or qualification for registered in-house counsel in New York or Sweden)
You have 5+ years of relevant experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department]
You are experienced in product counseling for technology products
You are excited about new technologies, in particular AI-based systems
You have a strong working knowledge of legal issues relating to digital products, technology, privacy, intellectual property, content and platform liability, consumer protection, media and AI
You have a strong track record of working with a wide range of commercial agreements
You are solutions oriented and self-motivated, with a willingness to dig into the details of projects
You are highly collaborative and work well with both legal and non-legal stakeholders
You take a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and provide pragmatic, commercial and timely advice
You are comfortable with ambiguity and change
You have experience partnering with global stakeholders, including external counsel
Where You'll Be
This role is based in New York, or Stockholm
We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 2-3 times per week.
