The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a senior manager, executive/internal communications, to lead executive and internal communications for Abbott’s diabetes care business. The position reports to the senior director, public affairs.
The senior manager will develop communications plans that help diabetes care employees understand the business strategy and inspire them to be powerful advocates for Abbott. The role translates strategy into actional plans around executive leadership and internal communications. Th position requires high-quality, detailed execution, liaising with business executives, leadership teams, subject matter experts and Abbott’s corporate employee communications teams to ensure alignment and consistency.
What You’ll Do
Lead executive and internal communications for Abbott’s diabetes care business, partnering closely with the executive vice president and other senior leaders to communicate business strategy, priorities, and other topics
Develop and execute employee communications strategies that educate, engage, and motivate a global workforce, aligning internal messaging with external campaigns, partnerships, and business priorities
Own key business-specific communication channels and forums, including the annual all‑employee meeting, virtual leadership forums and digital platforms, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and high‑impact
Work with executive vice president and other senior leaders on internal presentations and external speaking opportunities
Serve as the primary liaison with Abbott’s corporate employee communications team to coordinate and support Abbott‑wide initiatives and amplify diabetes care employee and patient stories across Abbott-wide channels
Drive employee engagement around major business announcements and enterprise‑wide initiatives
Partner with HR on priority topics, including employee engagement and communications that support organizational objectives
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Global Marketing and External Affairs, Abbott’s internal creative agency, IT, and other functions to execute communications
Manage global communications projects, vendor relationships, budgets, and agency resources in close partnership with the senior director
May include some external communications work, including media relations and/or externally storytelling, content or social media, as the team needs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field
8+ years of experience in communications, with a deep understanding of executive and internal communications
Consistent track record of excellent writing, communications and project management skills
Experience working with and counseling senior management
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in consumer, healthcare, and/or technology communications
Exhibit anticipatory thinking, strong judgment and executive presence
Able to achieve results while dealing with ambiguity, discretion, and a rapid pace of change
Understand how to work within a matrixed organization
Ability to communicate persuasively and influence others
Experience managing other aspects of corporate communications, including media relations and public relations, is a plus

Anticipated travel of 5-10%
The base pay for this position is
$148,700.00 – $297,300.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
