Senior iOS Engineer
Company Description
Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.
Founded in 2011, Depop’s diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it.
Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.

Role:
Depop is the resale destination for the next generation. We connect millions of buyers and sellers across 150+ countries, making it easy to buy and sell secondhand fashion. Our ambition is bold: 5x GMV growth by 2030, and payments is one of the most powerful levers to get there.
We're hiring a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Decision Experience team. You'll be the senior iOS voice in a multidisciplinary team responsible for the experiences that help buyers decide what to buy on Depop and ultimately complete a purchase.
Why this role is interesting:
The product description page is one of Depop’s most visited experiences and sits at the heart of every purchase journey. In this team, you'll shape the experiences that help buyers discover, evaluate, save, and purchase items—from save-for-later features to conversion paths. You'll make architectural and product decisions on high-traffic experiences used by millions of buyers, using experimentation and data-driven insights to continuously improve the buyer journey.
You'll work in a small multidisciplinary product team alongside engineers, product managers, designers, and data specialists, while also contributing to Depop's wider iOS architecture through our iOS community and iOS Core team - we actively want senior engineers in product teams shaping platform-wide decisions.
Responsibilities:
Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design disciplines to shape solutions and deliver outcomes.
Pragmatic approach to evolving technology and modernising applications incrementally.
Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong quality culture through reviews, testing, and technical guidance.
Ability to influence technical direction through engineering standards, design discussions, and technical leadership.
Track record of technical leadership without a management title: setting standards, unblocking others, making architectural calls in ambiguous situations.
Technical Expertise:
Substantial experience building iOS apps in production environments in Swift, with exposure to evolving iOS versions and modular app architectures.
Deep understanding of Swift, including memory management, concurrency (async/await, actors), and state management in complex application flows.
Production experience with SwiftUI and/or UIKit.
Experience implementing MVVM-C or similar coordination patterns with strong architectural judgement and ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and balance short and long-term trade-offs.
Experience integrating mobile applications with backend services in API-driven environments, ideally including OpenAPI-based workflows.
Experience writing and maintaining automated tests across unit, integration, and broader application testing layers using Swift Testing and XCTest.
Nice to Have:
Experience working in modern mobile CI/CD environments (including Bitrise, GitHub Actions, and merge queue workflows).
Familiarity with modularised iOS codebases and build-time optimisation.
Contributions to platform/core architecture beyond your immediate team.
