Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible to ensure safety amongst associates in the facility relating to chemical, weather, environmental, machine safety or ergonomics.
Maintain day-to-day compliance with applicable air, hazardous waste, wastewater and storm water permits, plans, regulations, etc.
Ability to interpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape and analyze the various options for complying with new regulations and permit requirements.
Supports laboratory and environmental compliance activities, including method validation, equipment calibration, regulated testing, documentation review, training coordination, waste management, regulatory audits, and continuous improvement initiatives across microbiology, chemistry, and environmental functions.
Conduct IH testing as needed/required. Provide training for associates to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements..
Support the plant in maintaining ISO 14001 certification and ensuring continued compliance.
Ensure all work performed complies with all environmental and hazardous waste procedures, plans, policies and requirements.
Implement processes to comply with the obligations of the permits, plans and regulations, ensure that the processes are operational and effective.
Support and assist with the reporting and recordkeeping activities for facility’s permits and other environmental regulatory reporting requirements and Corporate sustainability data tracking requirements.
Participate in environmental training programs as required to ensure compliance with regulations and permits
Participate in environmental and safety inspections and audits.
Assess Hazardous Waste Management program and assist with program modifications.
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, chemical, biosystems engineering, or occupational health and safety or relevant field required.
Experience:
Two years manufacturing operation experience required.
Two years leading EHS issues required.
Experience in managing/handling environmental compliance including reporting and record keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews required.
Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations required.
Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred.
Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
Knowledge/experience in ISO14001 compliance preferred.
