Senior Technical Curriculum Developer (Data Infrastructure & Cloud Services)

The Senior Technical Curriculum Developer will be responsible for building, administering, maintaining, provisioning, and documenting hands-on Cloud and AI learning environments for our curriculum of big data training courses. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to develop strong knowledge and expertise in building and deploying Cloudera Data Platform, Cloudera Base on premises, Cloudera Data Services on premises, and Cloudera on Cloud. You will build exercise environments to educate Cloudera’s field teams and clients on how to build, operate, maintain, and administer Cloudera Data Platform environments. The successful candidate is self-motivated, Continuous learner, innovative, and proactive, and has experience working remotely and onsite as part of a distributed team.

As a Senior Technical Curriculum Developer You will:

  • Build and maintain hands-on Cloudera lab environments for technical courses that provide training on Cloudera Data Platform ML/AI and related technologies

  • Administer the provisioning of ML/AI, Data Engineering and Data Lake House course environments for class delivery, including classroom, live remote, and on-demand offerings

  • Provide support for training environment access, performance, and operational issues

  • Design and develop efficient Data and AI environment build and configuration strategies

  • Implement and support environment provisioning automation processes

  • Work with the Educational Services platform team to design and create step-by-step instructions leading to successful outcomes from Course development and delivery

  • Work with a highly technical team to develop reference architectures and technical explanations for building and running Cloudera Base on premises, Cloudera Data Services on premises, and Cloudera on Cloud

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Cloudera Data Platform components, configurations, and use cases in support of exercise development including ML/AI and K8 environments

  • Write and produce technical documentation and curriculum content to support lectures, field guides, knowledge-base articles, certification content, and Cloudera documentation

  • Participate in the development and review of certification exam questions and technical assessment content

  • Record and maintain on-demand training classes and technical learning content

  • Work closely with the Cloudera Educational team at all levels to ensure project and customer success, providing immediate support to educators in the field as required

  • Expand knowledge and skills for Cloudera Data Platform, on premises and cloud technologies, and keep up with current Data Analytics, Ml/AI/GenAI , NiFi, and Big Data ecosystem technologies

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Overall 4+ years of IT experience, with at least 2+ years of production experience working with Cloudera Base on premises, Cloudera Data Services on premises, or Cloudera on Cloud including AI

  • Hands-on experience developing, testing, and implementing Cloudera products from Edge to AI in data center and public cloud environments

  • Working knowledge and experience with Kubernetes

  • MUST have Kubernetes and/or AWS cloud certification

  • MUST have good experience working/operating AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, or OpenAI to develop labs and curriculum

  • MUST be able to communicate in English fluently with confidence with internal teams and customers

  • Experience in systems administration or DevOps with one or more open-source operating systems

  • Experience with one of the major cloud providers to build and manage compute environments and maintain storage

  • Experience implementing operational best practices such as alerting, monitoring, and metadata management

  • Strong understanding of enterprise security practices and solutions such as LDAP, TLS, and/or Kerberos

  • Experience using configuration management tools such as Git, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform

  • Familiarity with scripting tools such as Bash shell scripting, Python, and/or Perl

  • Ability to work closely with the curriculum content development team to define operational requirements for technical training courses

  • Ability to build efficient, well-architected, and easy-to-use hands-on lab environments

  • Experience with data governance, data lineage, and metadata practices

  • Familiarity with third-party environment hosting solutions

  • Ability to work as part of a remote, distributed team

You may also have:

  • Systems administration-level knowledge of LDAP, HTTP/Apache, DNS/BIND, SSH, and NFS

  • Working knowledge and experience with Kubernetes

  • Strong expertise with one of the major cloud providers

  • Experience setting up multi-node Cloudera clusters

  • Understanding of the Java ecosystem and enterprise offerings, including debugging and profiling tools (e.g., jstack, jmap, jconsole), logging, and monitoring tools (log4j, JMX)

  • Experience coding with streaming/micro-batch compute frameworks, preferably Kafka and Spark
