Responsible for project operations and programs support including standardization, quality management, document management, methods creation and maintenance, process improvement and tools for the project management function. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day execution of internal aerospace projects, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives are met. Coordinate cross-functional teams and shared resources (e.g., engineering, supply chain, quality, operations, finance) to deliver project milestones and internal commitments. Develop, maintain, and track project plans, including timelines, dependencies, risks, and action logs; ensure accurate status visibility for stakeholders. Drive risk and issue management, including identification, mitigation planning, tracking, and escalation when needed.
  • Apply working knowledge of relevant aerospace technical domains to support planning, risk assessment, and decision-making. Translate technical inputs and requirements into clear project tasks and deliverables, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory expectations. Understand how project outcomes impact adjacent teams and programs, and coordinate to minimize conflicts and maximize value across the portfolio.
  • Use sound judgment to recommend options and trade-offs, balancing scope, schedule, cost, and risk within established project frameworks. Analyze project data and performance metrics to identify trends, anticipate issues, and propose corrective actions. Collaborate with functional experts to solve complex problems, leveraging internal networks and resources beyond the immediate project team.
  • Serve as the central coordination point for internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, resources, and deliverables. Prepare and deliver concise project updates (dashboards, reports, presentations) for stakeholders and functional leaders. Facilitate effective meetings and working sessions, driving clear agendas, decisions, and documented follow-up actions.
  • Provide informal leadership to project team members, clarifying roles, expectations, and interfaces between functions. Mentor and support junior team members or newer project coordinators, sharing best practices in project management tools and methods.
  • Contribute to the improvement of project management processes, tools, and standard work, identifying opportunities to streamline execution and enhance transparency. Capture and document lessons learned and feed them back into internal processes, templates, and playbooks to improve future project performance.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Engineering, Business or Project Management experience) + Minimum of 3 years of experience in project or program management, operations, or engineering within aerospace or a closely related industry.

Desired Characteristics

  • Three to seven years of experience in project or program management, operations, or engineering within aerospace or a closely related industry.
  • Project Management Skills - Proven experience managing cross-functional projects end-to-end, including planning, scheduling, risk/issue management, and stakeholder coordination. Familiarity with standard project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or equivalent).
  • Technical Acumen - Working understanding of aerospace products, systems, or manufacturing/operations processes sufficient to participate in technical discussions, understand dependencies, and assess project risks.
  • Business & Financial Acumen - Ability to understand key business drivers (cost, schedule, resource utilization, quality) and incorporate them into project planning and decision-making; experience with basic financial tracking (budgets, forecasts, actuals) is preferred.
  • Problem-Solving & Judgment - Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving approach; demonstrated ability to evaluate trade-offs, propose options, and make recommendations within defined frameworks.
  • Communication & Collaboration - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to create clear project reports, dashboards, and presentations. Comfortable facilitating cross-functional meetings and aligning stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Influence - Demonstrated ability to provide informal leadership and influence without direct authority; experience coordinating efforts across engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations. Experience mentoring junior team members is a plus.
  • Tools & Systems - Proficiency with standard office and collaboration tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and experience with project management and reporting tools; experience with ERP/MRP or PLM systems is a plus.
  • Certifications (Preferred) - Project Management certification such as PMP is preferred but not required.
  • Work Style & Behaviors - Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and follow-through; ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment; continuous improvement mindset focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
