Job Summary
The Agile Project Manager leads mid to large, high-priority initiatives that impact multiple Lines of Business (LOBs) and/or functional areas and require strong integration across technology, operations, and business teams.

This role enables delivery using Agile methodologies while ensuring adherence to KeyBank governance standards, including project & portfolio management tools, risk management, and regulatory oversight. The Agile Project Manager partners with Product Owners, business leaders, and control partners (Risk, Compliance, Audit) to deliver iterative value aligned with strategic objectives while maintaining transparency, auditability, and control effectiveness.

The role acts as a trusted advisor, balancing Agile delivery speed with disciplined governance, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Delivery & Governance Alignment

  • Drive Agile delivery across initiatives while ensuring compliance with KeyBank project governance frameworks.
  • Partner with Product Owners and business leaders to define product vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to business outcomes, regulatory commitments, and risk priorities while focusing on cross-team coordination, governance alignment, and enterprise delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe where applicable) are implemented in a manner consistent with governance, documentation, and audit expectations.
  • Maintain alignment between Agile delivery artifacts (epics, features, user stories) and required governance deliverables (business cases, approvals, stage gates as applicable).

Planning, Execution & Value Attainment

  • Enable iterative planning (sprint/release planning) while ensuring alignment to approved scope, funding, and defined value attainment objectives.
  • Support value attainment tracking, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes aligned to approved investment objectives.
  • Manage cross-team, cross-LOB dependencies to ensure coordinated execution within enterprise delivery timelines.
  • Ensure impacts to client experience, operational processes, and regulatory obligations are incorporated into delivery plans.
  • Accountable for delivery performance metrics including predictability, cycle time, and achievement of value attainment targets.

Stakeholder, Risk & Control Partner Engagement

  • Serve as primary liaison across business stakeholders, technology teams, and control partners (Risk, Compliance, Legal).
  • Provide transparent, structured reporting aligned to KeyBank standards, including status, risks, issues, dependencies, and financials.
  • Establish and maintain strong trusted advisor relationships across all stakeholder groups, including executive leadership.
  • Ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement for regulatory, high-risk, or high-impact initiatives.
  • Use dashboards to enable real-time transparency for stakeholders and governance forums.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

  • Identify, assess, document, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies in alignment with enterprise risk frameworks.
  • Ensure risks and issues are escalated appropriately and documented in required systems of record.
  • Perform impact analysis and ensure mitigation strategies align with regulatory and operational risk expectations.
  • Proactively remove team-level impediments while ensuring enterprise-level risks are governed appropriately.

Change Management & Regulatory Readiness

  • Support change management activities, including stakeholder communication, training, and adoption planning.
  • Ensure all required documentation, approvals, and controls are in place to support audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Partner with control functions to ensure initiatives meet compliance, legal, and risk requirements.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage initiative financials in alignment with KeyBank standards, including forecasting, budgeting, and funding approvals.
  • Monitor resource capacity, utilization, and vendor engagement, ensuring alignment to delivery priorities and budget constraints.
  • Ensure cross-team dependencies are actively identified, tracked, and managed, with clear ownership and escalation to maintain alignment across LOBs and prevent impacts to delivery timelines or value attainment.

Continuous Improvement & Agile Enablement

  • Champion Agile maturity across teams while aligning to enterprise governance expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, metrics, and feedback loops.
  • Promote standardized use of enterprise tools (e.g., Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, etc.) aligned with reporting and governance needs.
  • Support the broader Technology Delivery organization by driving Agile enablement, promoting best practices, and conducting targeted reviews to improve delivery consistency, efficiency, and outcomes.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience delivering initiatives in Agile or hybrid environments preferably within a regulated financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, including project lifecycle controls, risk management, and regulatory expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance Agile delivery with structured governance, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and stakeholder alignment at scale.
  • Strong experience with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence) and enterprise reporting requirements.

  • Participates in governance forums, steering committees, and delivery health reviews.
  • Adapts responsibilities as required to meet evolving regulatory, business, or organizational needs.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • OR equivalent experience (required)


Work Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience (required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) - PMI (preferred)
  • Certified Scrum Master (preferred)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
