What You Will Do:
We have an opportunity for a self-motivated Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Principal Specialist to support our ongoing compliance and risk reduction efforts at Raytheon’s UAE-based manufacturing location, Raytheon Emirates Limited, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The EH&S Principal Specialist will oversee EH&S functions supporting a team of expanding employees in a growing manufacturing environment and will be responsible for the implementation of employee health & safety programs domestically (within the UAE) and internationally for Raytheon’s business in the United Arab Emirates. This position will report to the International & Small Sites Regional Manager.
As the REL EH&S Principal Specialist you are responsible for ensuring that RTX, Raytheon, and REL (UAE) EH&S requirements are well implemented across all manufacturing operations, at the Tawazun, UAE location. The EH&S professional will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to drive employee engagement, control risks, and ensure EH&S functions are well developed in a manufacturing facility. This role will serve as the primary EHS subject matter expert for the site.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Lead the development and implementation of the site-wide EHS management system for a new manufacturing operation
Establish EHS program, SOPs, procedures, standards, and performance metrics aligned with RTX EHS Policies, UAE regulatory, TIP HSE requirements and best international practices
Develop manufacturing and logistics employees’ safety culture to ensure compliance with applicable international, UAE-specific, Tawazun, local and company EH&S requirements
Partner with business-critical stakeholders, including Customer representatives, RTX & Raytheon Engineering, EH&S and Administrative functions through formal and ad-hoc processes
Collaborate with contractors, regulatory agencies, and external partners to ensure alignment with RTX EHS polices and objectives
Understand and drive achievement of strategic business goals and priorities for RTX, Raytheon, and REL EH&S
Empower, motivate and lead facility managers and employees to meet RTX, Raytheon, and REL Command Media requirements
Build a proactive safety culture and foster a positive working environment
Lead hazard identification, risk mitigation, compliance audits, and corrective action management activities.
Identify & escalate issues or barriers to compliance success immediately and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop / implement the strategy to remove them
Partner with business level and local leaders to streamline processes or resolve problems where EH&S is a stakeholder
Recognize, evaluate, and control hazardous workplace conditions, and proactively influence safe behaviors to ensure safety and health of site employees
Execute initiatives, programs and develop documentation to ensure that required training is completed across EH&S disciplines
Interact with employees of all levels, promote relationships, learn the tasks employees perform and be known as an EH&S resource to the employees at the sites
Contribute to the development and implementation of EH&S strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement
Be the primary owner of RGNEXT’s environmental compliance programs, industrial hygiene programs, safety programs, asset protection programs, and Management System programs
Support sustainability practices and programs in alignment with our long-term goals
Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, or other business needs
This job is posted as ONSITE, and is based at Raytheon’s Tawazun, UAE facility.
Qualifications You Must Have
Experience with identification and mitigation of EH&S hazards
Proficient in leading and facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
Knowledge and the application of the principals of regulatory requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - effectively communicate and work with all levels of the organization and external agencies
Demonstrated understanding of standard EH&S reporting methods and metrics
Demonstrated success in leading and implementing site and/or corporate EH&S programs and systems
Ability to influence and drive EH&S initiatives while working in a diverse, multicultural environment
Demonstrated strength in EH&S risk assessment, program evaluation and auditing
Experience in implementing effective EH&S management system(s)
Strong knowledge and understanding and compliance with Environment, Health and Safety regulations, standard concepts, practices and procedures
· Professional Certification in the EH&S field (ASP, CSP, CIH, NEBOSH etc.)
Proficient in using MS Office, and other DT applications
Fluent in English with the ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications in English
Qualifications We Prefer
· Previous experience managing EH&S in a manufacturing environment preferably aerospace or defense industry implementing effective EH&S management system(s)
· Strong ergonomic (Human Factors) and Industrial Hygiene background
· Previous experience partnering with functional leaders and solving problems across functions
· Strong presentation skills, multilingual (English required, Arabic desired)
· Previous experience working at customer or military installations, familiarity with OSHA requirements, and working occasionally in remote or austere environments
· Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and programs in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate effective prioritization and implementation skills
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or 5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree in engineering or applied science or 6 years of relevant experience, or high school graduate with 8 years of relevant experience.
