SSC Internal Control and Process improvement Specialist

1. Transformation & Optimization of the Internal Control Framework (SOX 404)

  • Continuous Controls Monitoring (CCM): Transition from traditional manual sampling to data-driven continuous monitoring. Design and implement automated scripts to validate control effectiveness in real-time.
  • Process Redesign: Partner with Process Owners to re-engineer control activities, shifting from detective (manual) to preventative (system-automated) controls.
  • RACM Modernization: Update Risk and Control Matrices (RACM) not just for compliance, but to reflect leaner, optimized workflows resulting from SSC transformation projects.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools (5 Whys, Fishbone) to identify the source of control deviations and lead the redesign of the underlying process to prevent recurrence.

2. Strategic Audit Coordination & Remediation Engineering

  • Audit Tech Integration: Coordinate with internal/external auditors to facilitate "Audit through the BOT," initiatives to provide automated evidence logs rather than manual screenshots.
  • Remediation Design: Instead of temporary "band-aid" fixes, lead the implementation of long-term structural solutions, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or workflow enhancements, to close audit gaps.
  • Standardization Lead: Ensure audit remediation plans are standardized across all business units to ensure a "build once, deploy many" efficiency model.

3. Innovation, Automation & Culture Strengthening

  • ·Digital Literacy Training: Educate control owners on how to identify automation opportunities within their daily routines and how to use BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for self-monitoring.
  • Automation: Actively promote a "Digital First" mindset, encouraging the SSC to move away from spreadsheet-heavy controls toward ERP-integrated solutions.
  • Change Management: Support Process Owners through the transition of process redesign, ensuring that control integrity is maintained (or enhanced) during major system migrations or organizational shifts.

4. Intelligent Reporting & Data Analytics

  • Dynamic Dashboards: Develop and maintain automated compliance dashboards that provide "live" visibility into the health of the control environment for SSC Leadership.
  • Predictive Analysis: Use historical data to identify trends and predict potential control failures before they occur, allowing for proactive process adjustments.
  • Impact Reporting: Quantify the "ROI of Control Improvement"—reporting on hours saved through automation and the reduction in manual touchpoints within the control cycle.

5. Process Transformation & Continuous Improvement (CI)

  • Automation Discovery: Proactively identify high-volume, manual control activities suitable for RPA (Robotics) or AI-driven validation.
  • End-to-End Transformation: Participate in SSC-wide centralization projects, ensuring that "Control by Design" is baked into every new process from the start.
  • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Optimization: Work with the Transformation team to ensure SOPs are not just documented, but optimized for maximum efficiency and minimum risk.
  • Benchmarking: Stay abreast of industry trends in "Audit Tech" and "FinTech" to propose innovative tools and methodologies that keep the SSC at the forefront of internal control excellence.
