Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician 5 (2nd Shift) – New London Prepared Foods Plant

Join our team as a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing physical and visual inspections of products and plant systems.
  • Documenting and calculating results accurately.
  • Taking corrective action, when necessary, such as alerting appropriate personnel to adjust processes, identifying, segregating, and isolating non-conforming products, and reporting results to management.
  • Handling additional assignments as requested.

Shift: 2nd shift

Schedule/Hours: Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM or end of shift (flex as needed). Must be able and willing to cover other shifts when team members are absent.

Weekends: Rotating Saturdays once or twice per month; Sundays are rare and on an as-needed basis.

Pay: $31.73/hour plus shift differential. This position is eligible for overtime and is paid weekly.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Normal for a food manufacturing setting.
  • Physical Requirements: Involves lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds.
  • Safety Equipment: Use of steel-toed work boots, hardhats, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), and smocks is required.
  • Restrictions: Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: Minimum of 1 years’ experience in the food manufacturing industry OR related Quality Assurance type experience.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Special Skills:

  • Must possess skills to complete Tyson paperwork.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate the hourly workforce.
  • Good problem identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Math and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications.
  • Must function well under stress.
  • Must have flexibility to work where and when needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
  • Must work in cold/hot temperatures typically ranging from 30-90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Must be able to work in wet environment
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, squatting, gripping, pushing and pulling
  • Must be able to reach high and low levels frequently
  • Ability to climb step ladders and or stairs
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Position will require Lock Out Tag Out certification
