National Operations Manager

Job Details

Summary:

The incumbent is responsible to improve organizational processes, and work to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. The role is also responsible for people management duties, such as attracting, retaining talent and setting training standards and hiring procedures. Knowledge of Food & Drug Administration and Ministry of Health import and exports regulations/local transport and Customs regulatory requirements/legislation, Quality and Temperature Control handling of pharmaceutical shipments is critical to the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for local process management (Business Process Management, Improvement and re-engineering) in Imports, Exports, and Dispatch Department.

  • Undertake a proactive approach in identifying potential operations issues and seeking innovative preventative solutions.

  • Understands and communicates customer requirements and has the ability to translate those needs to respective teams to ensure the client is provided with the correct solutions available.

  • Responsible for driving local testing of any innovative technologies from Global offices and implementing those if successful in line with company strategy to daily operations.

  • To execute, manage and assess system development, roll-out, and maintenance of transport management systems.

  • Responsible for agent and subcontractor management including stakeholders such as brokers, airlines and regulators.

  • Responsible for complying with the Company's overall Quality Systems by ensuring regulations and internal guidelines are integrated into operational procedures.

  • Collaborates with customers and World Courier teams to design solutions which meet complex customer needs.

  • In alignment with the Company's growth and direction, provides overall operational financial plan and review in order to manage the development of budgets, controls and measurements to monitor progress.

  • Attend customer calls and face to meetings to support Business Development teams when applicable to act as subject matter expert for operational activities.

  • Responsible for all Operations associates training and development skills. Ensure that associates are inducted, trained and assessed via day to day management on import/export shipment handling, understanding of regulatory knowledge associated with import and export and movement of domestic shipments. Ensures a Quality focus of all orders handled ensuring the teams are well versed and able to handle both basic and complex temperature control shipments and World Courier packaging systems.

  • Responsible for regular performance review and process improvement plan where required.

  • Overall management of office and warehouse facilities and transport operations.

  • Provide operations reports to meet organizational requirements including weekly and monthly functional reporting, analysis, results review and supporting recommendations.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Reports Directly To:

Country Manager - Japan, with dotted reporting line to Regional Operations Director, APAC.

Education:

  • Secondary Education Diploma or College Degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with relevant or similar work experience.

  • Subject Matter Expert in World Courier systems or procedures is a plus

  • Desirable: A comprehensive knowledge of import/export requirements (airlines/brokers/agents handling) and local regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical shipments/handling.
