Commercial Operations Manager

Role Purpose

Yahoo Advertising's AU Commercial Operations team sits at the centre of how Yahoo helps its sales, solutions, and partner teams move faster and smarter across the region. The Commercial Operations Manager, based in Sydney, works alongside the Head of Commercial Operations to drive operational delivery across AU, using AI and automations to create workflows and optimise processes at scale. The role suits an operator who instinctively breaks a process into its parts, then asks which parts can be optimised and/or automated. Systems thinking, automation design, and AI are default tools in the day-to-day workflow.

Team Purpose

The AU Commercial Operations team exists to make commercial delivery across the region faster, more consistent, and increasingly automated, so the local sales, solutions, and partner teams can spend more time on growth and less on operational drag.

Key Accountabilities

Operational delivery and commercial cycle ownership

  • Owns the recurring operating rhythm of the AU commercial business across weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles, surfacing pacing, performance, and revenue risk early.

  • Owns the commercial governance and reconciliation cycles that move agreements through to settlement, partnering with Finance, Legal, and Solutions to keep the business closing on time.

  • Efficient in Tableau/Looker with the ability to build out bespoke reports/dashboards

  • Familiarity and/or eagerness to learn various reporting platforms in order to support billing/ finance workflows

  • Diagnoses friction across the commercial lifecycle and ships durable process fixes that survive headcount, product, and market change.

  • Codifies playbooks, standards, and documentation so operational capability lives in the team, not in any one person.

Operational tooling

  • Identifies repetitive or manual operational work and replaces it with AI, automation, or workflow tooling, building and deploying solutions directly rather than outlining them for others to execute.

  • Owns the AU commercial tooling stack, making deliberate calls on what to build, buy, integrate, or retire as the business evolves.

  • Embeds AI into the day-to-day operating rhythm, deploying agents and assistants where they compress cycle time without compromising accuracy.

Cross-functional partnership and commercial enablement

  • Acts as the operational connective tissue across Sales, Solutions, India Client Services and Operations (CSO), Finance, Legal, Product, and platform teams, translating commercial intent into operational execution.

  • Equips Sales and Solutions with the tools, libraries, and reference assets they use to pitch, close, and retain business, including benchmarks, case studies, and enablement content.

  • Surfaces field signal back to Product, Pricing, and Platform teams, closing the loop between what is happening in the market and what the business needs to ship.

  • Represents AU operations in regional and global forums, unblocking decisions and protecting local nuance.

Job Dimensions

People

Individual contributor role with no direct reports. Works in a dotted-line partnership with the India Client Services and Operations (CSO) team that supports AU commercial teams.

Financial

Stewardship of recurring credit, reconciliation, and rebate cycles across multiple commercial agreements. No direct budget authority.

Decision Making

Authority to design and ship process changes and automations within operational scope. Escalates contract, commercial, and pricing decisions to the Head of Commercial Operations, AU.

Position Impact

Direct impact on the efficiency of AU Commercial Operations, the protection of campaign revenue through pacing and optimisation, and the AI-enabled scale of the broader Sales, Solutions, and Partner functions across the region.

Relationships and Stakeholder

Internal: Sales, Solutions, India CSO, Finance, Legal, Product, Pricing and Yield, Platform Support, and the Yahoo DSP, Data, Supply, and Partner teams. External: agency and commercial partner stakeholders across AU.

Delivery and Results

Recurring commercial governance, reconciliation, and pacing cycles across the AU portfolio. Weekly and bi-weekly delivery rhythms that surface pacing and performance signal. Quarterly refreshes of insights, enablement, and benchmark assets. Continuous automation pipeline against recurring operational work.

Person Dimension

Experience

  • 5+ years in commercial operations, revenue operations, business operations, or sales operations at a tech or media company. Adtech or DSP background strongly preferred.

  • CRM fluency. Comfortable navigating accounts, opportunities, reports, and forecasting workflows in any major commercial system.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and self-direction around AI tools and automation in relation to operational ease. Hands-on tool experience matters less than the instinct to find what works and bring it into the workflow.

  • Track record of owning recurring operational delivery against time-bound cycles (monthly close, weekly delivery, quarterly refresh) with defined SLA pressure.

  • Comfort working across multiple parts of a business, including finance, legal, product, sales, solutions, and platform teams.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Programmatic, DSP, or adtech operations experience.

  • Strong commercial and financial literacy. Comfortable reading contracts, calculating tiered credits, reconciling invoices, and explaining commercial mechanics to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Workflow design and automation literacy. Comfortable wiring up no-code, low-code, or scripted solutions to remove recurring manual work.

  • Efficient in Tableau and Looker for analysis and workflow ease

  • AI fluency. Comfortable using current-generation AI tools in order to maximise efficiency

  • Excellent written communication, especially for short-form internal updates, pacing recommendations, and case study narratives.

  • Comfort working with senior stakeholders across multiple time zones.

Nice to haves -

  • Process-driven by default. Sees workflows as a set of parts, with an instinct to figure out which parts can be automated away.

  • Experience building or maintaining sales enablement assets like benchmarks, case studies, or training material for a commercial team.

Role Engagement

This is a full-time, Sydney-based role on Yahoo's AU Commercial Operations team, sitting at IC3. The role partners daily with the Head of Commercial Operations and works across most parts of the AU business, with a particular focus on the Sales, Solutions, India CSO, Finance, and Yahoo DSP platform teams.
