Product Compliance Specialist
About the Opportunity
MoonPay is looking for a Product Compliance Specialist to support the compliance partnership for one or more of our business verticals.
MoonPay’s product surface spans consumer payments, enterprise stablecoin infrastructure, institutional digital asset services, merchant checkout, and emerging AI-agent commerce. Each of these products needs to be built, launched, and operated in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
In this role, you will work closely with Product, Legal, Engineering, Design, Compliance Risk, and Operations teams to help translate complex and fragmented global regulatory requirements into clear, actionable product guidance. You will support defined compliance workstreams with growing independence, helping teams understand obligations, document requirements, assess product risk, and prepare products for compliant launch and ongoing operation.
This is a great opportunity for someone with early-to-mid career experience in compliance, legal, product operations, or risk who wants to build deep expertise at the intersection of crypto, payments, product development, and regulation.
What You Will Do
-
Support cross-functional partners across Product, Legal, Engineering, Design, and Operations on compliance matters throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation and design through development, testing, launch, and post-launch review.
-
Build working knowledge of your assigned MoonPay business verticals, which may include consumer payments, enterprise stablecoin infrastructure, institutional digital asset services, merchant checkout, or AI-agent commerce, along with the regulatory frameworks that apply to it.
-
Translate regulatory requirements into practical product and engineering guidance, including supporting Business Requirements Documents, implementation plans, control requirements, and launch readiness documentation.
-
Assist with product risk assessments for new offerings and enhancements, helping identify compliance vulnerabilities, document mitigation options, and flag areas where obligations across product lines or jurisdictions intersect or conflict.
-
Review product features, user-facing communications, marketing materials, policies, procedures, and training materials to help ensure they remain aligned with consumer protection, disclosure, licensing, and broader regulatory requirements.
-
Coordinate cross-functional compliance workstreams, including sign-offs, documentation updates, licensing confirmations, control implementation, regulatory change implementation milestones, and regular progress updates to your manager and the compliance team.
About You
-
You have 2–4 years of experience in compliance, legal, product operations, or risk within financial services, fintech, payments, or a related regulated environment, ideally with some exposure to crypto or digital assets.
-
You have a working understanding of blockchain and digital assets. You can speak credibly about on-chain transactions, stablecoin mechanics, and wallet infrastructure, and you are actively building fluency in areas such as DeFi protocols, smart contracts, and tokenization.
-
You are interested in product development and either have experience working with product and engineering teams or are eager to build that experience by engaging earlier in the product lifecycle rather than reviewing outputs only after the fact.
-
You are developing the ability to think across business lines and regulatory regimes, including frameworks such as BitLicense requirements, money transmitter obligations, MiCA authorization, trust company requirements, and other jurisdiction-specific obligations.
-
You communicate clearly, manage your own deliverables, and work with growing independence in fast-moving environments, knowing when to take initiative and when to escalate to a senior compliance partner for guidance.
Nice-to-have experience
-
Progress toward or completion of professional certifications such as ACAMS, CRMP, CRCM, CCEP, or equivalent.
-
Exposure to NYDFS regulations, BitLicense requirements, state money transmitter licensing, or other payments and digital asset regulatory frameworks.
-
Familiarity with institutional crypto products such as custody, OTC trading, tokenized securities, DeFi yield products, or enterprise stablecoin infrastructure.
-
Exposure to AI-adjacent compliance considerations, including agent-based transactions, automated decision-making, or emerging AI-enabled commerce models.
-
Experience with KYC/KYB processes, transaction monitoring, fraud operations, or compliance operations in a crypto, fintech, or payments environment.
-
Prior experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
