Principal Technical Program Manager, AWS Applied AI Solutions - Core Services

Amazon · Seattle, Washington, USA

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization (AAIS), we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead program execution for Mosaic, our strategic platform initiative delivering seven foundational pillars (Identity, Data and Knowledge, Foundational Agents, Evaluation, Onboarding, User Experience, and Data Analytics and Observability) that accelerate how AAIS teams build production-grade AI agents and applications. You will drive end-to-end delivery across multiple engineering teams, manage complex cross-organizational dependencies, and establish the mechanisms that transform Mosaic from an early-stage initiative into a scaled platform serving all of Applied AI Solutions. This role requires deep technical acumen in distributed systems and AI/ML infrastructure, a demonstrated ability to operate at principal-level scope across organizational boundaries, and the judgment to make trade-offs that balance speed of delivery with long-term platform coherence.

The Core Services AI Foundations team within AWS Applied AI Solutions builds the foundational platform that enables application development teams to ship production-grade AI agents and applications with confidence. We provide the shared infrastructure, tooling, and guardrails that handle the hardest cross-cutting concerns in agentic AI: evaluation, identity and access management, observability and analytics, data and knowledge management, foundational agents, and user experience. Our customers are AAIS builder teams developing AI-powered enterprise applications for contact center, supply chain, healthcare, and life sciences domains. We reduce development time from months to days by abstracting complexity and eliminating undifferentiated heavy lifting. This role combines the ownership of a startup environment with the scale of AWS. You will help chart the course for how AWS builds AI products.

Key job responsibilities
Drive program strategy, roadmap planning, and execution across Mosaic's seven foundational pillars, coordinating delivery timelines and resolving cross-pillar dependencies that span multiple engineering teams

Establish and operate program mechanisms (reviews, risk management, escalation paths) at VP/Director level to maintain velocity, surface blockers early, and drive decision-making across Applied AI Solutions leadership

Lead cross-organizational coordination with AWS primitive service teams (IAM, Bedrock, AgentCore, OpenSearch, CloudWatch) to align on integration patterns, influence roadmaps, and close capability gaps

Define and track platform adoption metrics, convergence targets, and operational health indicators that demonstrate Mosaic's impact on reducing development time and eliminating duplicative work across AAIS

Own technical program architecture decisions by decomposing ambiguous platform requirements into executable workstreams with clear milestones, acceptance criteria, and dependency chains

Drive operational excellence for Mosaic services including launch readiness reviews, region expansion planning, and production health standards

Identify and drive strategic convergence opportunities across AAIS teams building overlapping capabilities, partnering early to influence designs toward reuse without constraining delivery momentum

A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing platform delivery dashboards and triaging risks across active workstreams. You're leading a cross-pillar dependency review with engineering leads from Identity, Evaluation, and Observability teams, resolving a sequencing conflict and aligning on a revised integration timeline. You join a working session with an AWS primitive team to negotiate API contract changes needed for Mosaic's access control module. You then shift to preparing the weekly executive review, distilling complex technical trade-offs into a decision framework for Director and VP stakeholders. You meet with an AAIS application team evaluating Mosaic adoption, capturing friction points that feed directly into your next sprint's priorities. Your days move fluidly between technical depth and organizational leadership. You are equally comfortable whiteboarding system architectures and driving alignment across seven teams with competing priorities.
