Senior Product Manager, Issue Management

Vanta · Remote U.S.

At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it.

The Issue Management team builds the workflow and tracking capabilities that help GRC customers manage compliance programs at scale. When something goes sideways, Vanta is the system of record where it gets logged, assigned, tracked, and resolved — and increasingly, where AI proactively surfaces problems and drives them toward resolution before they become audit findings.

As Senior Product Manager for Issue Management, you'll own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for two product areas: issue management, the core compliance remediation workflow, and exception management, a greenfield build that's become a top task from Vanta's upmarket sales team. Exception management covers ongoing policy exceptions, where leadership needs to formally approve, document, and track that exception on a recurring basis. It's a critical functionality for upmarket expansion. This is also a meaningful agentic AI opportunity: building intelligent workflows that proactively flag exception expiries, route approvals automatically, and surface emerging compliance risks before they require manual intervention. You'll be the person who defines and builds that version of it.

What You'll Do as a Senior Product Manager at Vanta

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Issue Management and Exception Management — positioning both as competitive differentiators that win enterprise GRC deals and drive retention

  • Build exception management from the ground up — partner closely with upmarket sales and solutions engineering to define what enterprise prospects need, scope the MVP, and ship the capability that unlocks deals

  • Lead the agentic AI opportunity for Issue and Exception Management — define and build AI-powered workflows that proactively surface compliance risks, automate issue routing and escalation, and reduce the manual overhead of managing exceptions at scale

  • Conduct deep customer discovery with enterprise accounts — understand how customers manage compliance issues and policy exceptions at scale, and translate those insights into scalable product solutions rather than one-off fixes

  • Partner with go-to-market to close the loop between product and pipeline — help position capabilities competitively, build the GTM motion for new features, and inform how sales and SEs talk about the product

  • Define success metrics and make data-informed decisions — establish KPIs for adoption, customer value, and business impact; use data to guide prioritization and communicate roadmap progress across EPD and leadership

  • You'll own two strategically important product areas — issue management is table-stakes for enterprise GRC customers, and exception management is an active deal-blocker that you'll be the person to solve

  • You're building greenfield — exception management is a first-class product build with clear customer demand, direct GTM pull, and a dedicated team behind you

  • You'll have a real opportunity to build the agentic future of compliance workflows — greenfield AI work with clear customer problems, enterprise scale, and a team ready to move fast

  • You'll work closely with go-to-market from day one — this is a high-visibility, commercially-connected PM role where the line between what you build and revenue outcomes is direct and short

How to be successful in this role:

  • 6–8 years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with a track record of building for enterprise or upmarket customers with complex, multi-stakeholder workflows

  • Proven AI or agentic product experience — you've built AI-powered features and understand where AI creates genuine differentiation versus noise; you can identify the right problem before reaching for the technology

  • Commercial fluency and GTM partnership skills — you've worked directly with sales or solutions engineering, understand how product gaps affect deals, and can translate customer pain into competitive positioning

  • Comfort building in greenfield spaces — you've taken a product area from zero to one, developed conviction in ambiguity, and shipped foundational capabilities with a clear framework for what comes next

  • A strong PM foundation — structured thinking, sharp prioritization, the ability to balance big-picture strategy with pragmatic, iterative execution

  • Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.

About Vanta

We started in 2018, in the wake of several high-profile data breaches. Online security was only becoming more important, but we knew firsthand how hard it could be for fast-growing companies to invest the time and manpower it takes to build a solid security foundation. Vanta was inspired by a vision to restore trust in internet businesses by enabling companies to improve and prove their security. From our early days automating security monitoring for compliance standards like SOC 2, HIPAA and ISO 27001 to creating the world's leading Trust Management Platform, our vision remains unchanged.

Now more than ever, making security continuous—not just a point-in-time check— is essential. Thousands of companies rely on Vanta to build, maintain and demonstrate their trust— all in a way that's real-time and transparent.
