Technical Product Owner
Role Overview
We are looking for a Product Owner who sits at the intersection of business, customer, and technology. You will own the vision and roadmap for our authentication and identity products, translate strategy into deliverable work for the engineering team, and keep us ahead of the curve on identity standards and the evolving threat and user-experience landscape.
This is a hybrid profile: you think like a product marketer (market, positioning, customer needs) while carrying genuine technical depth, enough to engage credibly with engineers and security teams on protocols and emerging authentication approaches.
Essential Functions
- Maintains the product vision and roadmap and supports growth opportunities
- Supports the product strategy by staying up to date on market trends and understanding the latest customer needs
- Monitors and adheres to success metrics, analyzes data for insights, and coordinates with partner teams to support business strategies
- Translates product roadmap features into product requirements, including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria
- Prioritizes and breaks down high-level requirements into detailed user stories that the development team can execute against
- Acts as the product expert for users, bringing creative, ad-hoc solutions to real use cases
- Monitors and evaluates product progress, including outcomes of deliverables, and recommends improvements based on internal and customer feedback
- Helps mitigate impediments to ensure successful completion of release/sprint goals
Domain-Specific Responsibilities (Authentication & Identity)
- Runs structured technology watch on the authentication and identity space (OpenID Connect, passkeys, verifiable credentials, and related standards) as they evolve
- Translates standards and ecosystem changes into clear product implications and communicates them to engineering, security, and leadership
- Balances three competing forces in every authentication decision: user experience (friction), security posture, and compliance/regulatory constraints
- Partners with marketing to articulate the value and differentiation of identity features to both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated product ownership experience (roadmap, backlog, user stories, working with agile development teams)
- Working knowledge of authentication and identity concepts (OpenID Connect, OAuth, or SAML)
- Comfort working with data and success metrics to inform prioritization
Strongly Preferred
- Prior product experience in identity, security, API, or developer-facing products
- Ability to conduct independent technology watch and form a defensible point of view on emerging standards (e.g., passkeys/WebAuthn)
- Exposure to product marketing or go-to-market work
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with relevant compliance and regulatory frameworks affecting identity (e.g., GDPR, eIDAS, sector-specific requirements)
- Experience communicating technical concepts to commercial and executive stakeholders
