The role
Clifford Chance, a leading global law firm, is pursuing an ambitious strategy that entails large scale transformation across all areas of the organisation.
As a Business Analysis Manager (BAM), you will provide skilled Business Analysis services across assigned complex and high-impact change initiatives. You will ensure the delivery of core Business Analysis services, from stakeholder engagement and strategic discovery to requirements definition and solution evaluation—enabling successful outcomes and tangible benefits for the firm.
Where will this role reside?
This role sits within a global Business Analysis team which resides within the Transformation Management Office (TMO).
The Business Analysis team help drive and enable transformation across the firm by establishing business needs and requirements, recommending feasible solutions, and assuring solutions will realise anticipated business outcomes and benefits in alignment with the firm's strategic priorities.
The TMO provides stewardship of the firm’s strategic transformation portfolio, managing programmes and projects to ensure investments advance the firm’s strategy, are effectively governed, and deliver intended outcomes. The TMO operates across the firm’s governance model, working in partnership with executive leadership to define, organise, govern, and deliver transformation in a coordinated and effective manner.
The TMO provides a central location and expertise to support, enable and deliver the firm’s transformation strategy. These changes may affect all functional and geographic areas within the Firm (including both legal and non-legal teams) and, as such, there are multiple complex projects and programmes that require sophisticated yet pragmatic programme and change management to ensure the delivery of successful outcomes and maximum business benefits.
As a Business Analysis Manager, you will work on complex and high-impact transformation initiatives and collaborate closely with colleagues across Business Analysis, Change, PMO, and programme delivery, as well as senior c-suite leaders, legal and business professional experts and leads across the firm.
What you will be responsible for?
As a Business Analysis Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Organising and coordinating your required efforts across complex and high-impact transformation. Defining the appropriate methods to conduct activities, manage effective stakeholder engagement, develop appropriate governance, manage required information, and consistently monitor and improve your own performance.
- Developing and maintaining solid stakeholder relationships across the firm. Identifying and analysing all affected and influencing stakeholders and conducting and assuring effective collaboration and elicitation complex and high-impact transformation.
- Exploring business problems and opportunities, surfacing relevant context, ensuring AS-IS, TO-BE, business needs and requirements are accurately defined, and proposing the most effective and optimal way of realising desired business outcomes and benefits in alignment with the strategic priorities of the firm.
- Informing and assuring change and delivery strategies, decision making, and planning across complex and high-impact transformation.
- Managing and maintaining scope, requirements and design information and their interrelated relationships from discovery through to delivery to ensure effective change control.
- Structuring, organising, and defining requirements into agreed requirements and design artefacts, and evaluating and agreeing solution options which will realise desired business outcomes and benefits.
- Preparing for solution evaluation, monitoring and assessing the performance of and value delivered by business and/or technology solutions, managing the removal of barriers and constraints which prevent the full realisation of business benefits.
- Providing valuable foresight and insight across complex and high-impact transformation.
- Actively contributing to our Business Analysis community of practice.
What will you do?
Technical competencies
As a Business Analysis Manager, you will be able to:
- Nurture and maintain solid stakeholder relationships across the firm, encouraging the free-flowing exchange of information, ideas, and/or innovation to deliver solutions which will realise value in alignment with the firm's strategic priorities.
- Work closely with senior leadership, portfolio management, and other affected and influencing stakeholder groups to surface and provide valuable foresight and insight to inform demand management, change and delivery strategies, decision making, and planning.
- Develop and agree Business Analysis and Stakeholder engagement plans and approaches.
- Ensure appropriate governance is in place to manage scope and requirements.
- Monitor and assess Business Analysis performance and consistently recommend actions for improvement.
- Prepare for and conduct all planned elicitation activities using appropriate methods.
- Capture, validate, and assure all elicited information, eliminating conflicting perspectives, and ensuring a collective and consistent view is understood by all affected and/or influencing stakeholders.
- Document, validate and communicate relevant information to the agreed and appropriate level of detail and foster appropriate collaboration forums for participating stakeholders to feedback, share concerns, and ensure information is accurate and understood.
- Validate and ensure the accurate definition of the AS-IS using appropriate modelling techniques (e.g. business context, business process (BPMN), use case, data flow modelling), highlighting the problems and interconnected nature of the people, processes, technologies, and/or data affected.
- Validate and ensure the accurate definition of business needs and high-level requirements in alignment with the firm's strategic priorities.
- Validate and ensure the accurate definition of the future TO-BE state using appropriate modelling techniques, highlighting the capability gap and opportunities in meeting business needs.
- Conduct solution feasibility assessments and highlight potential costs, benefits, and delivery complexity in relation to constraints, risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
- Ensure the accurate definition of the solution scope to inform and assure value realisation, solution proposition thinking, business cases, change management, and delivery decision making, strategies, and planning.
- Validate and ensure the accurate definition and management of all requirement types and designs (predominantly business, functional, and/or possibly UX and data), and their alignment using appropriate traceability.
- Regularly monitor and assess proposed changes in scope, requirements, and designs, consistently informing affected and/or influencing stakeholders of potential impacts, resolving any conflicts, and obtaining the appropriate approvals before proceeding.
- Validate and ensure all requirements and designs meet agreed and expected quality standards, align with business needs, and will realise anticipated business benefits.
- Identify, assess, and recommend potential solution design options to meet complex requirements, articulating them into simple terms so that all stakeholders can understand their potential value.
- Define appropriate measures to use to evaluate solution performance and prepare affected and/or influencing stakeholders for the evaluation of solution performance, operational readiness, and benefits realisation tracking.
- Evaluate all business, service and/or technology solutions with stakeholders, triaging defects, risks and issues, and highlighting limitations which may restrict the full realisation of desired benefits.
- Assess operational readiness and inform stakeholders of any external factors which may restrict the full realisation of desired benefits.
- Provide appropriate recommendations to eliminate risks and issues with solutions and/or operational readiness to ensure value realisation.
- Actively contribute to and drive the adoption of Business Analysis best practice.

Your experience
You will have a:
- Strong understanding of industry standard business analysis, change, and project management principles, methodologies, tools, and approaches.
- Solid understanding of HR and HR Transformation.
Highly desirable:
- Relevant Business Analysis accreditation and/or membership.
- Experience within the legal industry and/or Global Professional Services environment.
- TOM transformation experience.
- CRM, Finance and ERP transformation experience.
- Understanding of technologies such as Interaction, Intapp, ServiceNow, and Workday.
- Experience enabling organisation's to become more data driven with analytics and insights.
- Experience using AI to optimise business analysis activities and performance.
