About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Product QA Tester who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.
As a Product QA Tester, you will bring more than a checklist mentality to testing. This role is for someone who genuinely cares about the end-user experience, thinks critically about edge cases before they become incidents, and raises their hand proactively when something feels off — even if it's outside the immediate scope of a ticket. You'll work across our full product surface: mobile (React Native), web, and API layers, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to ship with confidence.
We're an AI-forward team. That means we expect this role to actively use tools like Claude to work smarter — generating test cases, pressure-testing expected behaviors, and thinking through edge cases more thoroughly than any one person could alone.
What You'll Do:
Quality ownership
- Design, write, and execute test plans for new features, regression cycles, and edge-case scenarios across mobile (iOS/Android), web, and API
- Catch issues in requirements and designs before engineering begins — not after
- Maintain and improve test coverage documentation so the team always knows what's tested and what isn't
- Triage and reproduce bugs with enough detail that engineers can act immediately — no back-and-forth
Proactive quality advocacy
- Participate in sprint planning and design reviews to identify gaps and risks early
- Raise quality concerns through appropriate channels, with clear reasoning and suggested mitigations — not just "this feels wrong"
- Monitor post-release behavior and surface regressions before customers do
- Suggest improvements to QA processes, tooling, and test infrastructure when you see a better path
Attention to detail in practice
- Test for what the spec says and what it doesn't — UX consistency, copy accuracy, accessibility, and real-world user flows
- Cross-reference acceptance criteria against actual behavior meticulously, flagging ambiguities rather than making assumptions
AI-assisted testing
- Use Claude or other AI tools to generate comprehensive test cases from requirements, PRDs, or acceptance criteria — then apply your own judgment to refine and extend them
- Prompt AI tools to identify edge cases, boundary conditions, and failure scenarios that might not be obvious from the spec alone
- Use AI to validate expected behavior by asking it to reason through a user flow or business rule — surfacing logical gaps before testing even begins
- Draft and iterate on bug reports, test plans, and coverage documentation with AI assistance to produce clearer, more thorough output faster
- Stay current on how AI tools can improve QA workflows and bring new ideas to the team
- Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication.
What We Look for:
Experience
- 2–5 years in a product QA or software testing role, with hands-on experience across mobile, web, and API testing
- Demonstrated ability to write thorough test cases that others can follow and build on
- Experience with bug tracking tools (Jira or equivalent) and writing defect reports that are clear and actionable
Technical skills
- Mobile testing on both iOS and Android, including device/OS fragmentation awareness
- Basic understanding of developer tools, network inspection, and log reading to self-diagnose before escalating
- Familiarity with SQL or basic data queries is a plus
- Familiarity with automation frameworks is a plus
- Active, practical use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) in a professional or personal workflow — required. We're not looking for AI curiosity; we're looking for AI fluency.
The qualities that matter most
- Thoughtfulness: You think about why a feature works a certain way, not just whether it does. You consider the user's mental model and flag when something technically passes but experientially fails.
- Attention to detail: Typos, pixel misalignments, inconsistent error messages — these bother you. You don't let small things slide because "it's probably fine."
- Proactiveness: You don't wait for a bug to be reported. You ask questions during grooming. You follow up when a fix hasn't been verified. You document known risks so the team can make informed decisions.
- Clear communication: Written and verbal English is strong — your bug reports, Slack messages, and test plans are easy to understand without needing follow-up clarification.
About You:
- You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
- You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
- You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
- You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
- You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
- You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.
