DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a Field Applications Scientist to provide technical support and training for our analytical and scientific solutions. In this role, you'll collaborate with sales teams and customers to deliver demonstrations, applications support, and training that enables research and innovation. You'll serve as a scientific advisor, helping customers optimize their workflows and maximize the value of their investments while contributing to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
Working across multiple technology platforms, you'll provide comprehensive pre- and post-sales technical expertise, conduct product demonstrations, develop new applications, troubleshoot complex issues, and build relationships with customers. Your role will involve working with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, R&D, and product management to ensure customer success and drive business growth through technical excellence.
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Technology, or a related Life Sciences field, with willingness to travel extensively across Southern Africa.
Minimum 5 years' experience in Clinical Diagnostics, with hands-on exposure to clinical pathology laboratories, laboratory workflows, and diagnostic testing environments
Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth, identify business opportunities, build customer relationships, and conduct consultative, solution-based selling.
Previous experience as a Technical Sales Specialist, Applications Specialist, Product Specialist, or similar role involving customer training, technical support, product implementation, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of QC principles, QC data interpretation, troubleshooting, assay performance monitoring, and laboratory quality practices
Clear written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
Strong presentation and training capabilities for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a results-oriented environment
Experience in project management and ability to handle multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software
Customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external customers
Fluent English required; additional languages beneficial
Valid driver's license and passport required for travel
