We are looking for a Chemist to join our Chemical Laboratory within Global R&D Filler Metals in Gothenburg.
In this role, you will perform chemical analyses, develop and maintain analytical methods and support ESAB Filler metal business, working closely with the chemists, researchers, engineers, technicians, and production teams across ESAB.
Your responsibilities:
As a Chemist, you will:
- Perform chemical analyses and laboratory testing using advanced analytical techniques on mineral powder, metallic materials and finished products.
- Develop, improve, and validate analytical methods to support research, product development, and manufacturing.
- Select, adapt, and optimize analytical methods to achieve accurate and reliable results.
- Maintain and update laboratory instructions, specifications, and documentation.
- Take responsibility for assigned laboratory equipment and analytical systems.
- Support and advise chemists across ESAB’s global laboratory network.
- Participate in and lead laboratory‑related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, production sites, suppliers, and external partners.
Your profile:
We believe you have:
- A university degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in analytical/inorganic chemistry and laboratory work.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- A proactive, curious, and innovative mindset.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Communication‑level proficiency in both Swedish and English.
- You are methodical and organized person in the laboratory.
Nice to have:
- Hands‑on experience with analytical/inorganic chemistry and laboratory testing.
- Laboratory skills in one or more analytical techniques (XRF, XRD, OES and/or ICP).
- Experience from the chemical, metallurgical, steel, or manufacturing industry.
- Experience working in an ISO‑regulated laboratory environment.
