About Thermo Fisher Scientific
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we develop solutions that help people live healthier, cleaner, and safer lives. This is more than our mission — it is the impact our colleagues make every day.
At our Vilnius site, we develop and manufacture innovative life science and diagnostic technologies used by researchers, clinicians, and laboratories around the world. Our teams work with advanced products, modern analytical equipment, and high-quality standards to support scientific discovery and global healthcare.
Join a team where analytical chemistry, LC-MS technologies, data interpretation, and quality control directly contribute to products used worldwide.
Job Overview
We are looking for an Analytical Chemist to join our Quality Control team and support qualitative and quantitative testing of in-process and final products within the organic synthesis value stream.
In this role, you will perform hands-on analytical testing, interpret mass spectrometry data, evaluate results, maintain accurate documentation, and support investigations when testing processes do not meet expected requirements. You will also contribute to inventory control and, when needed, participate in analytical method development and method validation activities.
This role is a strong fit for a chemist, biochemist, bioengineer, or analytical scientist with practical experience in LC-MS, mass spectrometry data interpretation, and preferably proteomics, metabolomics, or related omics workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of in-process and final products according to approved documentation
Interpret analytical data, including mass spectrometry results, and report findings accurately and on time
Plan assigned quality testing activities, including timing, priorities, and test status
Investigate non-conforming testing processes in accordance with approved procedures
Complete and maintain testing protocols, equipment logs, quality records, and other required laboratory documentation
Create, update, and manage quality database records
Monitor raw material, reagent, and laboratory inventory levels and initiate timely orders when needed
Participate in analytical method development and method validation activities when required
Collaborate with R&D, process development, and other cross-functional colleagues to resolve testing-related issues
Support continuous improvement of analytical testing, documentation, and laboratory workflows
Experience and Qualifications
University degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, or another related scientific field
Hands-on experience in mass spectrometry data interpretation
Practical experience in proteomics, metabolomics, or related omics workflows
Practical experience with LC-MS or other mass spectrometry-based analytical techniques
Understanding of analytical methods and experience performing laboratory analyses
Knowledge of working safely with chemical substances
Understanding of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance principles
Knowledge of quality management system standards and documentation requirements
Experience working in a controlled or regulated laboratory environment
Good written and spoken English skills
Master’s degree would be an advantage
Skills and Competencies
Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret complex laboratory data
Ability to assess LC-MS or mass spectrometry results and identify trends, issues, or inconsistencies
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
Ability to work according to approved procedures, quality standards, and data integrity principles
Ability to investigate testing issues, identify possible causes, and support problem-solving activities
Good planning, organization, and time management skills
Responsible approach to laboratory work, chemical safety, and controlled environment practices
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with R&D, process development, quality, and laboratory teams
Fast orientation and ability to manage changing priorities in a laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LC-MS method application, troubleshooting, or method optimization
Experience with HPLC, PCR, qPCR, or other analytical methods
Experience in organic synthesis product testing, quality control, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a regulated laboratory environment
Experience participating in analytical method development or method validation
Experience working with quality databases, ERP systems, or laboratory information systems, such as E1 or equivalent
Knowledge of quality standards, controlled environment practices, and laboratory documentation principles
