Location:
This position is part of the Microbiological Quality Control (MBQC) team from Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lengnau (CH), supporting GMP-regulated manufacturing operations. The role operates within a laboratory environment focused on ensuring microbiological quality and compliance of pharmaceutical products and processes.
How Will You Make an Impact?
You will ensure the microbiological quality and compliance of products, raw materials, and manufacturing environments through accurate sampling, testing, and analysis. Your work will directly support product safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
A Day in the Life:
Perform microbiological sampling and testing of final and intermediate products, in-process controls (IPC), raw materials, utilities, environmental monitoring samples, and cleaning validation samples.
Conduct microbiological analyses including bioburden testing, bacterial endotoxin testing, and PCR-based methods while ensuring timely and compliant data reporting.
Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment; prepare microbiological media, reagents, standards, and test kits.
Education: (EMEA)
Bachelor in Life Sciences or diploma as laboratory technician with several years of professional experience in the field of microbiology / life sciences / biomedical or similar
Experience:
Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in QA, QC, or a related field
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment and microbiological laboratory operations
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong knowledge of microbiological testing techniques (bioburden, endotoxin, PCR) and laboratory best practices
Familiarity with GMP requirements, method validation/verification, and documentation standards (SOPs, WIs)
Ability to troubleshoot microbiological issues, support investigations, and collaborate in cross-functional teams
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
Work is performed in a controlled laboratory environment with adherence to GMP and safety standards
Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of biological materials
May involve standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks, and precise manual work
Weekend work may be required based on business and operational needs to support manufacturing activities and ensure timely microbiological testing
