DESCRIPTION:

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, the role of Field Applications Scientist (FAS) is an exciting and extremely important position that combines customer-facing activities with various internal collaborations. This role requires you to apply your scientific and commercial knowledge to support customers using Olink products and services. This is a regional role based in South Korea, serving customers in South Korea and South East Asia (SEA) countries. This is achieved by direct and indirect channels through distributors, and drawing experience and knowledge from the rest of the APJ Support organization.

MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide advanced application support to customers, distributors and Business Development Managers (BDMs) in pre-sales and post-sales settings. 
  • Conduct follow-up meetings, telephone conferences, e-mail, customer visits, distributor visits and conferences. This includes scientific support for BDMs, troubleshooting issues related to user technical skill, instrument operation, and data analysis to ensure highest customer satisfaction.  
  • Advise and support core labs in laboratory setup.  
  • Actively collaborate with different departments within Proteomic Sciences Division (PSX) and ThermoFisher to find the best solution to queries and issues. 
  • Communicate courteously with customers and keep accurate records of discussions and/or correspondence with customers using corporate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.  
  • Ensure that customers and distributors receive the best possible support and service via e.g., meetings, telephone conferences, e-mail, and visits.  
  • Make suggestions for improvements of products and internal processes based on customer feedback.  
  • Conduct training of core labs, external customers and distributors.  
  • Manage relationships with distributors, and maintain clear channels of communication and foster collaboration  

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Education

  • MS or PhD in Molecular Biology or related scientific field

  • Additional relevant certifications a plus

2. Experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in field application support, customer training, technical troubleshooting, and distributor management

  • Demonstrated experience in corporate processes

  • Proven experience in working independently across different disciplines in an efficient and structured fashion

3. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge in Proteomics and biomarker discovery

  • Previous experience with Olink technology, Fluidigm, liquid handlers, DNA sequencer, is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong presentation and communication skills for delivering technical content to diverse audiences

  • Strong interest in hands-on work with laboratory instruments such as liquid handlers, systems for automatization of workflow and PCR instruments etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence for understanding customer needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English. Any additional language is a plus

  • Understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Familiarity with CRM tool

  • Ability to travel ~25% within your support regions, and potentially internationally as needed
