This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer I/II based in the United States.
This is an opportunity to help protect and strengthen critical national infrastructure within a large-scale, highly complex technology environment. You will play a key role in safeguarding digital systems, applications, and data across networked and cloud-based ecosystems that support essential services across North America. Working within a collaborative cybersecurity team, you will design and implement security controls, respond to threats, and contribute to the continuous improvement of security operations. The role blends hands-on engineering, automation, and security operations support, with strong exposure to modern security frameworks and enterprise-scale environments. You will collaborate closely with DevOps, IT, and security operations teams to embed security throughout the development lifecycle. Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across infrastructure, network, application, and data environments to reduce risk and strengthen overall security posture.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and technical guidelines across enterprise systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and support data protection strategies across structured and unstructured data environments.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing efforts to identify, analyze, and remediate security weaknesses.
- Develop automation tools and scripts to enhance threat detection, incident response, and security monitoring capabilities.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and hybrid environments.
- Monitor security events, investigate incidents, and support response activities in coordination with SOC and incident response teams.
- Support compliance initiatives by implementing technical controls and assisting with audit readiness and documentation requirements.
- Participate in threat modeling exercises, red/blue team activities, and continuous improvement of defensive strategies.
- Contribute to operational excellence through the development of playbooks, runbooks, and security procedures, including participation in on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or related security-focused roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of network security concepts including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and Zero Trust principles.
- Experience with security operations workflows, SIEM platforms, and incident detection and response practices.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools such as Nmap, Burp Suite, or Metasploit.
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, or similar languages for automation and security tooling.
- Knowledge of application security, including APIs, web applications, and microservices architectures.
- Understanding of encryption, data loss prevention (DLP), and identity/access management principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex technical environments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Relevant security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP, CEH, or GIAC are considered a strong advantage.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in cross-functional team environments.
