Job Description

LOCATION: This is a fully onsite position based in Madison, WI. Unfortunately, relocation assistance is NOT provided.

DESCRIPTION:

As a Team Leader, Distribution at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a key role in driving excellence in warehouse operations while supporting our global mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Leading a team within our distribution facilities, you will ensure the efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of critical materials that power scientific discovery.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining direct participation in daily warehouse operations with team leadership and continuous process improvement. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and service while developing your team and optimizing performance.

You will coordinate daily warehouse activities, develop team capabilities, and drive operational improvements using Lean principles and our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) framework. Working cross-functionally, you will help ensure seamless operations while maintaining strict compliance with cGMP, safety, and quality standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree + 2 years experience of warehouse or distribution operations experience, preferably in a regulated environment. Educational equivalency may be considered. In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant distribution/warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment experience

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering or related field

  • HS/ GED required

  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams with direct reports

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S, or similar)

  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP), including material master data, BOMs, and routings

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team leadership and cross-functional collaboration

  • Experience with inventory management and cycle counting procedures

  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying temperature environments

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Preferred:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field

  • Experience in cGMP-regulated environments

  • Certifications in logistics, quality systems, or Lean manufacturing

  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment
