Fleet Operations Manager

This role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence across fleet service markets while ensuring safety, compliance, and performance standards are consistently met. You will oversee short-term, travel-based assignments across different territories, supporting teams in at-risk markets and strengthening overall operational capability. The role blends field leadership, client engagement, and hands-on operational problem-solving, requiring someone who can lead teams through complexity while delivering strong customer outcomes. You will also play a key role in training new managers, improving repair workflows, and ensuring adherence to DOT/BIT compliance requirements. This is a highly dynamic position suited for a results-driven leader who thrives in fast-moving, multi-site environments. Strong executive communication, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making are essential to success in this role.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead fleet operations across assigned territories, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, environmental standards, and operational quality.
  • Support and train new fleet managers while strengthening team performance in at-risk or underperforming markets.
  • Ensure DOT, BIT, and other regulatory audits are completed accurately and on time, minimizing compliance risks and operational disruptions.
  • Oversee repair order management, ensuring scheduling, completion, and closure processes meet operational and client expectations.
  • Drive key performance indicators including time-to-repair, throughput, and technician billability to meet business and P&L objectives.
  • Optimize inventory management and parts procurement processes to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations.
  • Serve as an escalation point for client issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions with clear accountability.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with HR, Finance, Procurement, and operational leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in fleet operations, field operations, logistics, transportation, or a similar operational leadership role.
    • Proven experience leading teams in multi-site, field-based, or travel-intensive environments.
    • Strong understanding of operational KPIs, workforce utilization, and performance management practices.
    • Experience working with compliance frameworks such as DOT, BIT, or similar regulatory standards is highly valued.
    • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop frontline and mid-level managers.
    • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into operational improvements.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage escalations effectively.
    • Strong leadership presence with the ability to build culture, drive accountability, and inspire performance.
    • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, changing environments with shifting priorities and travel requirements exceeding 50%.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
