Job Description

Location: Belgium / remote

As a Field Service Engineer, you will deliver a comprehensive range of service activities, including installation, customer onboarding, repairs, preventive maintenance, and validation services for Molecular Analysis systems, including UV-Vis, FTIR Spectroscopy, and IR Microscopy instruments. By providing high-quality technical support, you will maximize instrument uptime, exceed customer expectations, and build lasting customer relationships while contributing to scientific innovation.

A Day in the Life:

  • Perform installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, qualification, validation, and other field service activities at customer sites.
  • Deliver responsive remote diagnostics and telephone support alongside on-site service interventions.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and application issues to maximize first-time fix rates and minimize downtime.
  • Introduce customers to newly installed systems and provide operational guidance and training.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and exceptional service delivery.
  • Coordinate service schedules with internal planning teams to optimize efficiency.
  • Complete accurate and timely Field Service Reports and other required documentation.
  • Share customer insights with internal teams, including Sales, to support lead generation and business growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and share technical expertise across the service organization.
  • Ensure compliance with customer regulations, internal procedures, quality standards, and ethical business practices.

What to expect:

  • Work with advanced Molecular Analysis technologies, including UV-Vis, FTIR Spectroscopy, and IR Microscopy systems.
  • Support customers in laboratory, industrial, and pharmaceutical environments.
  • Travel primarily within the assigned region, with regular travel throughout Europe and occasional international travel across EMEA and the United States for training and special assignments.
  • Independently manage service priorities while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver industry-leading customer satisfaction through timely, professional service.
  • Continuously develop your technical expertise and explore career growth opportunities in technology and leadership.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Advanced Degree with no prior experience required, or
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments.
  • Preferred fields of study include Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • Additional relevant certifications are advantageous.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments.

  • Experience working with analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of qualification and validation processes is preferred.
  • Experience or interest in spectroscopy and analytical instrumentation
  • Good PC, software installation, and basic network troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is advantageous.
  • Experience working in qualified/regulated (GMP/GLP) environments is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to install, configure, and support instrument software and associated computer systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers ranging from laboratory end users to highly specialized technical experts.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and self-motivation skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region and internationally when required.
  • Fluent Dutch and English language skills, both written and spoken; French is preferred.
