A U.S.-based trucking company operating nationwide lanes is seeking a dedicated dispatcher to streamline day-to-day operations. They work directly with brokers and carriers and want to maintain reliable east-to-west routes while improving booking efficiency. Why does this role exist?
The client is currently handling all dispatching themselves—calling brokers, negotiating loads, and coordinating with carriers—and needs a dedicated expert to take over the leg work. This role will ensure consistent load flow, optimize routes and schedules, and maintain strong broker/carrier relationships so the owner can focus on running and growing the business. The objective is to manage the full dispatch cycle efficiently using TMS and load boards while upholding professional, timely communications.
Load board management
- Review load boards daily and identify profitable loads with a focus on east-to-west routes
- Evaluate rates, lanes, and equipment fit; shortlist best options per driver availability
- Maintain a running pipeline of opportunities to minimize driver idle time
Broker communication and negotiations
- Call brokers to negotiate rates, confirm load details, and secure bookings
- Build rapport and maintain professional, calm communication under pressure
- Manage emails and phone follow-ups to lock in confirmations quickly
Driver/carrier coordination
- Confirm driver availability, willingness, and readiness for targeted loads
- Send load confirmations with commodity, pickup/delivery details, and route specifics
- Monitor progress, update ETAs, and resolve day-of issues professionally
Daily dispatch operations and documentation
- Oversee end-to-end dispatch workflow from identification to assignment
- Enter and update data in the TMS for tracking, scheduling, and compliance
- Coordinate schedule changes, reschedules, and communicate contingencies promptly
Tools and process optimization
- Use TMS, load boards, email, phone systems, Magic AI Tool, and Grammarly to streamline work
- Draft/rewrite emails and create quick call scripts for negotiations and status updates
- Recommend process improvements to increase speed-to-book and reduce empty miles
Required:
- Proven experience as a dispatcher in a trucking company (required)
- Hands-on use of TMS and major load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop or similar)
- Strong phone-based negotiation and professional written communication in English

Compensation:
