Groomer

Position Summary: 

The Groomer is responsible for providing professional grooming services to clients’ pets in a safe, compassionate, and efficient manner. This role ensures each pet receives a positive grooming experience through skillful care, attention to detail, and excellent communication with both clients and hospital staff. The Groomer partners closely with the entire vet hospital team to support hospital operations and uphold VetEvolve’s standards for client satisfaction, safety, and animal welfare.  This is a part time roll with potential to grow into a full-time position.  Individuals with an established grooming practice but looking for a home base are encouraged to apply. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all aspects of pet grooming, including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, trimming, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other related services as requested. 
  • Consult with clients to understand desired grooming style, coat condition, temperament, and any special handling instructions. 
  • Handle pets safely and compassionately at all times, using proper restraint techniques and minimizing stress for each animal. 
  • Evaluate pets for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral issues and promptly report concerns to the medical or management team. 
  • Maintain accurate grooming records and client notes, ensuring all services, preferences, and special instructions are documented. 
  • Manage grooming schedules efficiently to maximize productivity while maintaining quality and safety. 
  • Clean and disinfect grooming area, equipment, and tools after each use according to hospital and company standards. 
  • Maintain inventory of grooming products and report supply needs to management. 
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with clients and staff to ensure positive experiences and repeat business. 
  • Participate in promoting grooming services through exceptional customer service and client education. 
  • Collaborate with the boarding and kennel teams to coordinate bathing or grooming services for boarding guests. 
  • Follow all hospital safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized, and positive work environment. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall hospital operations. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional grooming experience in a veterinary hospital, pet salon, or similar environment required. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in breed-specific cuts, coat maintenance, and safe grooming techniques. 
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and handling. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
  • Compassionate, patient, and attentive to detail. 
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to stand, bend, or lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods. 
  • Reliable and professional in both appearance and demeanor. 
  • Certification from an accredited grooming program is preferred but not required. 

Hours:  

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available for scheduling during all hours the practice is open to support hospital operations 

Compensation and Benefits:
