Overview
DDS’s Senior Staff Accountant will provide oversight of Disability Determination Services operating budget and the coordination of Federal (SSA) and State policies and procedures. You will contribute to the Department’s mission by helping us ensure Maine receives the necessary funding to process applications for Social Security Disability benefits for the most vulnerable people of Maine.

Minimum Qualifications:
Intermediate to advanced education, training, and/or experience in accounting, business administration, financial planning, budgeting, or another related field demonstrating competency in analyzing complex data and records, interpreting policies, rules, and laws, designing operational frameworks, identifying process and procedure deficiencies, and developing practical solutions.
Preference given to candidates with experience with federal or non-profit grant management.
A conditional job offer, and access to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA’s) system, data, information, and/or premises are contingent upon you passing the SSA suitability process.
*Note: This covers the preliminary screening (pre-screen) and the final background adjudication stage of the suitability process.
