Job Description & Summary

In indirect tax at PwC, you will focus value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), sales tax and other indirect taxes. Your work will involve providing advice and guidance to clients on indirect tax planning, compliance, and strategy, helping businesses navigate complex indirect tax regulations and optimise their indirect tax positions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage indirect tax implementation and compliance projects within ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into indirect tax process specifications.
- Configure and customize indirect tax functionalities (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax) in ERP systems to meet regulatory and business needs.
- Provide expert guidance on indirect tax processes including tax determination, calculation, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for finance teams, tax departments, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, IT, and external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax processing and reporting.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to indirect tax configurations and transactions.
- Prepare documentation including tax process flows, configuration guides, and compliance manuals.
- Stay updated with the latest indirect tax regulations and ERP advancements to recommend improvements and ensure compliance.
Mandatory Skill Sets:
- Extensive experience and proficiency in indirect tax configuration within ERP systems (preferably SAP).
- Strong understanding of global indirect tax regulations (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax).
- Ability to analyze complex tax scenarios and provide effective ERP-based solutions.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other ERP platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skill Sets:
- Experience with integration of indirect tax with other ERP modules like FICO, SD, and MM.
- Knowledge of tax engines such as Vertex, Sovos, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE.
- Understanding of ABAP or other ERP scripting for debugging and minor enhancements.
- Previous experience in a leadership role or project management within indirect tax projects.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tax technology transformation initiatives.
Years of Experience Required:
- Typically, 5–7 years of experience working in indirect tax within ERP systems.
Education Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional tax certifications or ERP tax module certifications are a plus.
