BI Engineer

Semperis is looking for a BI Engineer to join our Business Analytics team. In this role, you will support the development and enhancement of our Power BI reporting environment, helping deliver scalable, intuitive analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with Data Warehouse Engineers, and business stakeholders to translate data into actionable insights. This role is also expected to leverage emerging AI capabilities to enhance analytics, reporting, and user productivity.
Key job responsibilities:
Power BI Development & Ownership
Own the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI reporting solutions, dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting.
Develop highly visual, intuitive, and interactive dashboards that enable self-service analytics across the organization.
Build and maintain Power BI semantic models and datasets that support scalable reporting and analysis.
Create and optimize complex DAX measures, calculations, KPIs, and business logic.
Establish reporting standards, best practices, and governance processes for Power BI development.
Monitor and optimize report performance, refresh processes, and adoption metrics.
Business Partnership & Analytics
Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements, metrics, and reporting solutions.
Translate business questions into actionable analytics and visualizations.
Develop scalable measurement frameworks and reporting methodologies.
Support data validation, testing, and quality assurance across reporting assets.
Drive continuous improvement of business intelligence processes, tools, and reporting standards.
AI & Advanced Analytics
Identify opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within Power BI and analytics workflows.
Partner with data and engineering teams to operationalize AI-driven insights within reporting experiences.
Evaluate and implement generative AI use cases that improve business user productivity and analytics adoption.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience designing and developing business intelligence solutions.
4+ years of hands-on Power BI experience building enterprise reporting solutions.
Advanced expertise with DAX, Power Query, and Power BI semantic modeling.
Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehousing concepts, and analytical data structures.
Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and troubleshooting.
Experience testing and validating dashboards for accuracy, consistency, and performance.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering business value.
Experience using AI tools to improve analytics workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud data platforms.
Familiarity with Python for analytics and automation.
Experience building or leveraging AI-driven insights, forecasting, anomaly detection, or natural language analytics.
Understanding of responsible AI, data governance, and data privacy best practices.
Passion for evaluating and adopting emerging AI capabilities within business intelligence solutions.
