We have an exciting opportunity for an Sr Account Director, Business Development within our Real World Evidence/Data (RWE/D). Building on the strength of CorEvitas and Thermo Fisher Scientific's broader evidence-generation capabilities, we are expanding a next-generation commercial team that brings together disease registries, real-world data, non-interventional studies, patient-centered research, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and market access solutions.
As part of this evolving organization, you will play a key role in driving growth across our integrated portfolio, developing new client relationships, and helping biopharmaceutical sponsors address critical clinical, regulatory, payer, and commercialization challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
BD will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. Positions PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all clinical development work to be outsourced. You will qualify deals and develop proposals including defining the solutions and recommending pricing structures to meet strategic company goals. You will serve as the primary contact until work is sold, then coordinate with the relevant clinical development area(s) to ensure a successful implementation. You will also act as a liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements and gather data on marketing trends and competitive products/services and pricing.
Essential Functions:
- Orchestrates RFP strategy calls, Support client proposals, prepares client presentations, and negotiates and closes contracts. Signs new business authorizations at or above assigned authorization goal.
Proactively identifies, develops, and expands relationships with new and existing biopharma sponsors, creating opportunities where no prior relationship exists.
Engages senior stakeholders across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, HEOR, Market Access, Epidemiology, Commercial and other functions to uncover evidence-generation needs and position Thermo Fisher Scientific's RWE solutions.
Maintains an active client engagement strategy, including regular travel for in-person customer meetings, industry conferences, and business development activities.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
- Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Scientific, sales and/or marketing background with concentration in pharmaceutical/biotech area.
- Proven success generating new business opportunities through strategic prospecting, relationship development, and consultative selling approaches
- Excellent interpersonal skills in order to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, and Marketing, and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing the sales process through close, and handling all aspects of contract negotiations.
- Understanding of sales automation systems and Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience in clinical research, real-world evidence (RWE), health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), market access, or related life sciences consulting and services preferred.
